DEFINITION Public Works Inspector II: Under general supervision, the Public Works Inspector II position is responsible for ensuring compliance with engineering plans, specifications, codes, and regulations on public works projects, including roads, utilities, drainage, and other infrastructure improvements. This role involves field inspections, documentation, and coordination with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure quality control and adherence to project standards. Public Works Inspector I: Under general supervision, inspect construction projects, ensure site compliance, administer and monitor contracts, review plans and specifications; respond to questions and concerns from the public, contractors, and businesses; perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility; and perform other duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Public Works Inspector II: This is the second of three levels in a series of Public Works Inspectors. The Public Works Inspector II position receives general supervision from the Public Works Inspector Supervisor or the designee of the Senior Director of Public Works and Engineering. Public Works Inspector I: This is the first of three levels in a series of Public Works Inspectors.

Receives general supervision from Chief Public Works Inspector/Senior Director of Public Works. Exercises no direct supervision. Public Works Inspector II Public Works Inspector II Starting Salary - $62,582.13 Public Works Inspector I Public Works Inspector I Starting Salary - $56,763.84 Requirements Minimum Qualification for Public Works Inspector II Education, Training, and Experience High school graduate or GED required, college credit or technical training in construction management, engineering or related field preferred

Minimum three (3) years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience. Licenses and Certificates A valid State driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Certifications such as ACI (concrete), Certified Municipal Stormwater Inspector (stormwater), or Paving Inspector Certification (asphalt and concrete) are preferred.

Minimum Qualification for Public Works Inspector I Education, Training, and Experience High school graduate or GED required, with advanced study or training. Applicants with 6 months to one year of increasingly responsible construction experience are preferred. Licenses and Certificates A valid State driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
