What is an Insight Security?

An Insight Security job involves analyzing security threats, identifying vulnerabilities, and providing recommendations to enhance an organization's security posture. Professionals in this role use data-driven insights to predict risks, improve security strategies, and ensure compliance with industry standards. They may work with cybersecurity teams, conduct risk assessments, and develop security policies to protect sensitive information. This role requires analytical skills, knowledge of security frameworks, and expertise in threat analysis.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an Insight Security role?

To excel in an Insight Security role, you need a strong background in information security, risk assessment, threat analysis, and data analytics, typically supported by a degree in cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools, incident response platforms, and certifications such as CISSP or CISM is often expected. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are key soft skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and conveying security insights clearly. These competencies ensure you can proactively identify and address security threats, helping organizations protect critical data and operations.

What are common challenges encountered in an Insight Security role and how can they be managed?

Professionals in Insight Security often face challenges such as staying ahead of evolving cyber threats, managing large volumes of security data, and communicating complex risks to non-technical stakeholders. Adapting to rapidly changing technology and threat landscapes requires continuous learning and regular skills updates. Effective team collaboration and leveraging advanced analytics tools are crucial for addressing security incidents quickly and accurately. Many employers offer ongoing training and resources to support your success, and strong internal networks help ease communication during critical incidents.

Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced security technology leader who combines strategic thinking with strong technical execution. This role is responsible for defining and driving the enterprise security technology strategy, identifying capability gaps, evaluating emerging technologies, and delivering solutions that strengthen the organization's security posture.

The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with a bias for action. They are comfortable tackling complex security challenges, challenging conventional approaches, and driving innovation across organizational and technology boundaries to deliver measurable security outcomes.

Success in this role requires the ability to assess security capabilities, identify gaps, and develop practical solutions through technology optimization, platform integration, automation, and targeted engineering efforts. Working across the security ecosystem, you will develop roadmaps, influence technology decisions, and translate complex security challenges into effective, scalable solutions that improve business and security outcomes.

This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on technical execution.

THE PERSON

You are comfortable operating at both strategic and technical levels—setting long-term direction while remaining deeply involved in execution. You have led security engineering initiatives, influenced technology decisions, and built solutions that solved real security problems.

In addition to broad security expertise, you have demonstrated experience developing custom capabilities, including automation, integrations, analytics, workflows, and AI-enabled tooling. You understand when to buy, when to extend existing platforms, and when building a solution delivers a meaningful advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define and lead the enterprise security technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security capabilities and identify opportunities to improve coverage, efficiency, and resilience.
  • Drive technology selection, integration, and optimization across the security ecosystem.
  • Design and develop custom security solutions, automation, integrations, and AI-enabled capabilities where commercial products do not adequately meet business or security requirements.
  • Establish a practical build-versus-buy strategy and lead implementation efforts when custom development is the preferred approach.
  • Lead initiatives that leverage AI to enhance security operations, threat detection, security analytics, and exposure management.
  • Establish and evolve security controls, governance, and operational practices that support enterprise AI and agentic systems.
  • Partner with Security Architecture, Cyber Defense, Security Platform Operations, IT, and GRC teams to deliver scalable security capabilities.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights and recommendations for leadership and key stakeholders.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Proven experience leading security engineering programs, security platform strategy, or enterprise security technology initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record of designing and building custom security solutions that delivered measurable operational or risk-reduction outcomes.
  • Strong software engineering and automation experience, including development of security applications, integrations, workflows, data pipelines, analytics platforms, or AI-powered capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience building solutions that leverage security telemetry, operational data, and analytics to generate actionable insights, enhance detection and response capabilities, and enable data-informed security decisions.
  • Proven ability to define security technology roadmaps and drive implementation from concept through operational adoption.
  • Experience operating within large, complex, or rapidly evolving enterprise environments.
  • Practical experience applying AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics to security use cases.
  • Familiarity with securing AI platforms, models, agents, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Experience working with security telemetry, data pipelines, analytics platforms, or security data engineering.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with security architects and engineering teams to translate strategy into implementation.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

LOCATION

  • Austin, TX

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
