The Inside Service Representative II develops relationships and interacts face-to-face with new and existing customers (both landscapers and residential) to increase sales of products and/or services. This person also works with customers to highlight the features and benefits of Super-Sod products to achieve increased sales and profitability for our retail stores.

Essential Functions

  1. Greets and assists customers at curbside, counter, and yard service areas as needed.
  2. Works with customers to recommend the best types of grasses for their projects.
  3. Determines customers' lawn care needs both in-person and over the phone.
  4. Processes orders using Point of Sale system.
  5. Maintains inventory of products.
  6. Ensures accurate transactions by balancing cash register at the beginning and end of shift, and sales at the end of shift Works closely with Store Managers, Regional Management, Loaders and Administrative staff to provide optimal service internally and externally.
  7. Communicates with Company Call Center and Service team members through digital internal communications boards.
  8. Responsible for utilizing CRM to establish and maintain customer relations to achieve sales goals.
  9. Communicates with members of other nodes to effectively support customer service and experience.
  10. Responds to requests from customers and assists with operational demonstration and handling products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  11. Remains knowledgeable and up to date on changes and developments in the lawn and turf industry, as well as new products within the company.
  12. Keeps management informed of all activity, including timely preparation of reports.
  13. Reconciles daily sales records and transactions, and reports data through digital inventory tracker.
  14. Reviews ISR cash balance and sales report to ensure proper recordkeeping; reports discrepancies to Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager immediately.
  15. Maintains storefront, displays and inside working areas to ensure workspaces are clean and accessible by employees and customers
  16. Required and responsible for completing equipment evaluation, training and certification.
  17. Responsible for upholding a safe culture and work environment at the location.
  18. Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.

Competencies

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners.
  • Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
  • Knowledgeable about company's products and services, and customer-related policies.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position requires no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, digital filing systems and payment processing machines. The employee will be expected to work outside in all weather conditions and must have suitable clothing. They must have the ability and willingness to work in adverse conditions, not just including extreme weather but enclosed spaces and heights up to 8 feet. The employee will be expected to work around and with machinery that distributes loud noises and exhaust. Personal Protective gear is provided by the employer. This position does require handling and operating of heavy equipment which may introduce a high risk to slips, trips and falls.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, lift, push, pull, stoop, or bend. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This employee requires full range of motion of arms and legs and requires movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity and coordination. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Regional Manager, though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday work required as job duties demand (typically during harvesting season, March-November, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

Travel

This position requires little to no travel time.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school degree and business discipline.
  2. Face-to-face / counter sales experience.
  3. Experience with turfgrass sod and seed in a retail setting.
  4. Sales and Customer Service experience.
  5. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  6. Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Continued education in Marketing, Communication, or Business Management.
  2. Additional education in turf management, horticulture, or similar field of study.
  3. Bilingual skills in English / Spanish are a big plus.
  4. Forklift and Loading experience is a plus.

Base Pay (Hourly):

  • Retail Sales Base Rate average $16.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on experience and location)

Additional Compensation:

  • Inside Sales Commission: Retail Sales positions are eligible for monthly commissions based on individual and team sales performance.
  • Average commission earnings in retail sales roles range from $25 to $600 per month, depending on store traffic and sales conversion.
  • Commission is uncapped and paid monthly.

Additional Details:

  • Commission details and goals are shared during onboarding and tracked through our internal sales system.
  • Employees must maintain good standing and meet minimum sales thresholds to earn commissions.

Hourly Retail Sales Pay Range
$20—$24 USD
