JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Urban Lab in the Department of Entomology at Penn State, University Park, seeks a highly motivated research assistant to performfield and lab-based research on spotted lanternfly behavior and biology to work 20-30 hours per week. The candidate will assist with the collection of experimental data on the University Park campus and when needed, in and around vineyards in areas of high infestation in eastern Pennsylvania. The candidate will also assist in collecting behavioral and physiological data from insects (e.g., measuring insect body mass, imaging of tissue samples, conducting insect dissections, etc.). Duties will include assisting with lab based insect experiments, collecting insects, greenhouse plant care, rearing insect colonies, conducting behavioral and physiologicalassays, and performing general laboratory biology protocols.

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $18/hour.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
