Can you work in a psych ward as an inpatient psychiatric RN?

Yes, inpatient psychiatric RNs work in mental health wards or units within hospitals, providing direct patient care, monitoring mental health status, and administering medications. They typically need relevant licensure, such as a registered nurse license, and may require specialized training in psychiatric nursing. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment, often with a team of mental health professionals, and may include shift work.

Where do inpatient psychiatric RNs get paid the most?

Inpatient psychiatric RNs tend to earn higher salaries in regions with a higher cost of living and greater demand for mental health services, such as metropolitan areas or states with robust healthcare funding. Salaries can also vary based on experience, certifications, and the specific healthcare facility or organization. Generally, hospitals and psychiatric facilities in urban centers offer higher compensation compared to rural settings.
