Responsibilities & Qualifications
The Hot Mill team, located in Bay Minette, is seeking a Fluids Specialist. This role is responsible for managing all fluids in the hot line, which includes hydraulic, lubrication and grease systems. Managing in this context refers to performing all activities needed to make available fluids to the hot line operation when needed with all accurate specifications. This position also has the responsibility to support maintenance crafts and engineers as an authority on hydraulic systems, having deep understanding of all systems in hot line, their functionality and requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Fluid testing and analysis: Receive oil analyses and interpret the results.
  • Generate work order for mitigation actions
  • Use CMMS for tracking system history
  • Manage fluid required to be held in warehouse
  • Identify the need and handle potential local fluid storage in Hot Mill area
  • Train and disseminate knowledge amount mechanics and engineers in hot line
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and RCA in issues involving hydraulics and lubrication systems
  • Understand the EHS requirements and SDS documents
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic cylinder and valves repair: management spare parts in store and support procurement in contacting service providers
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.

Minimum qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of hydraulic lubricants and hydraulic oils: types, ISO standards
  • Be able to read and understand P&ID and hydraulic schematics
  • Include responsibilities and expertise in pneumatic systems
  • Understanding of viscosities and viscosity indexes, base oils (Group I, II, III, and IV), grease thickeners/binders, lubricant additives and the purposes, NAS cleanliness, ISO 4406 cleanliness standard

Preferred qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills: ability to compose clear and concise reports and PowerPoint presentation
  • Knowledge of a CMMS (SAP preferred)

Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing.
