Job Summary
The Work Study Student will support the Institute of Water and Health as a Lab Assistant on the Savannah Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Employment is contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities
  • Supports data processing and data management, ensuring accurate organization, cleaning, and analysis of hydrological datasets
  • Utilizes programming tools (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, Excel) for data analysis, statistical computations, and visualization
  • Assists with basic hydrological modeling and computational analysis related to water flow and contamination transport
  • Assists with biological and hydrological field data collection using various instruments for measuring water flow and quality
  • Conduct literature reviews to support research publications and technical reports
  • Assists in report preparation and data visualization for research findings
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure project timelines are met and deliver high-quality results

Shift Specifics
  • Up to 20 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Other Required Qualifications
  • Must be Federal Work eligible.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education
  • Currently pursuing a degree in environmental sciences, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, biology or a related field

Preferred Experience
  • Laboratory analysis and prep work

Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
