Job description
The largest Wisconsin newspaper producer is looking to add a skilled offset web pressman to their team!
Responsibilities:
Setting up and operating presses: Loading paper, making adjustments for paper size, and ensuring correct pressure and registration between plates and ink.Â
Monitoring print quality: Adjusting ink and water balance, and ensuring print quality meets specifications.Â
Troubleshooting and maintenance: Making minor repairs, cleaning equipment, and performing routine maintenance.Â
Maintaining equipment: Changing plates, blankets, and cylinders as needed.Â
Ink management: Obtaining or mixing inks and filling ink fountains.Â
File management: Downloading or scanning files, adjusting digital files, and inputting job settings.Â
Production tracking: Maintaining time or production records, controlling workflow, and tracking jobs.Â
Inventory management: Monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies.Â
Environmental monitoring: Monitoring humidity and temperature and making necessary adjustments.Â
Training and supervision: Potentially training and developing press crews, directing or monitoring their work.Â
Skills and Abilities:
Mechanical aptitude: Understanding of printing press mechanics and ability to troubleshoot issues.
Attention to detail: Ensuring accuracy in print quality and meeting specifications.
Good color perception: Ability to identify and correct color inconsistencies.
