Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Staff Engineer, Molding to provide expert technical leadership and strategic direction for our molding operations, ensuring optimal performance, quality, and innovation in the development and manufacturing of critical life science products.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of complex injection molding processes, tools, and equipment for high-volume, high-precision medical devices and diagnostic components. Serve as the primary technical expert for all molding-related activities, including material selection, process parameter development, mold design review, and troubleshooting of molding defects.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in molding operations, implementing advanced manufacturing techniques, automation, and lean principles to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless integration of molding processes into new product introductions and existing product lines.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the molding department.

  • Develop and implement robust process validation strategies (IQ, OQ, PQ) for molding processes, ensuring compliance with FDA, ISO, and other relevant regulatory standards.

  • Evaluate and recommend new molding technologies, materials, and equipment to enhance capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.

  • Conduct root cause analysis of molding failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's or Ph.D. preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in injection molding engineering within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries.

  • Demonstrated expertise in mold design, polymer science, process optimization, and scientific molding principles.

  • Extensive experience with various thermoplastic and thermoset materials used in life science applications.

  • Proficiency in DFM, DFA, statistical process control (SPC), and design of experiments (DOE).

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485) applicable to medical device manufacturing.

  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and mold flow simulation software (e.g., Moldflow, Sigmasoft).

  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and mentor engineering teams.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
