Job description

Our client is seeking a Process Technician to join their 2nd shift manufacturing team in Grand Rapids, MI. This hands-on role is responsible for injection molding machine setups, process troubleshooting, mold changes, and production support while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency.  The ideal candidate has strong plastic injection molding experience, solid mechanical aptitude, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues. You'll work closely with production, engineering, maintenance, automation, and tooling teams while also supporting new tooling and process development activities.


Responsibilities

  • Set up injection molding machines and provide ongoing process support.
  • Review initial molded parts for defects prior to Quality inspection.
  • Clean, stage, install, and tear down molds with proper care.
  • Troubleshoot machine, hot runner, automation, tooling, and processing issues.
  • Perform barrel and screw cleaning as needed.
  • Communicate equipment, automation, and tooling issues to the appropriate teams.
  • Run sample parts and assist with new and transferred tooling projects.
  • Support production, engineering, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Experience with plastic injection molding setup and processing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • General understanding of automation systems and manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic computer and blueprint reading skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds and work in an active manufacturing environment.
  • Availability for occasional overtime and weekend work.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of injection molding setup and processing experience.
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in plastics, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience with automated injection molding equipment and hot runner systems.
  • Understanding of ISO, FDA/GMP, or other regulated manufacturing requirements.
