Job description

Looking for a talented and highly motivated candidate with Injection Mold Design experience to come work with us in a Cost Estimator role to help our company maintain its reputation for producing high quality Injection Molds as A Full-Service Supplier to the Plastics Industry.

Summary of the Position:

The Cost Estimator plays an important role in obtaining work for our company. In this role, you will be asked to communicate with the Customer, Hi-Tech Sales, and the Program Management team about the specifics of the RFQ to ensure molds are quoted accurately. It is expected that you have a good knowledge of Injection Molds. You will be asked to interface with internal departments to obtain legacy information on past molds and to understand departmental capacities. Once work is awarded, it is the Estimator's responsibility to upload budgets, support project kickoff by producing and distributing required documents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Estimate labor and material cost for molds by using pricing models, historical data and analyze items such as:
    • CAD data, RFQ's, tool models, sketches, blueprints, bills of material, sample layouts, customer specifications.
  • Attend RFQ line up, pre-launch tooling meetings and design reviews as required by the customer.
  • Prepare cost reports and presents findings to Management, Program Managers, Sales, Customer Representatives, Price Auditors, Suppliers, and Subcontractors.
  • Participate in internal contract reviews.
  • Initiate internal job kick-off process.
  • Maintain quote, contract review and job kick off records.
  • Attend management meetings.
  • Track profitability of new jobs.
  • Continuously improve to achieve knowledge for professional growth.
  • Assist with the training of new/existing co-workers for their professional growth.
  • Support/enforce quality and environmental management system policies, procedures, and training.
  • Work with, maintain and improve Quote Model and CRM Sales software.
  • Travel to customer facilities, outside training, other Hi-Tech facilities, etc. as required.

Required Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience designing injection molds
  • Associate or Bachelor's in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred, or equivalent experience in an injection mold designer role or estimating role.
  • Conceptualize Mold design concepts for quoting.
  • Experience in Aerospace is a plus
  • Good communication skills through in-person, emails, texts, telephone communication and Video Conference with Customers, Suppliers, Management, and Co-Workers.
  • Must be organized, responsible, self-motivated, and capable of multi-tasking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong Mathematic Skills
  • Capable of using basic office machines (fax, copier, etc.).
  • Interfacing with various personalities at all levels of organization.
  • CAD experience or experience with CAD viewers
  • Strong Excel and Power Bi skills is a plus
