Job description

Position Title: Board Treasurer

Type of Job: Voluntary (non-paid board position)

Supervises: Finance Committee

Reports to: President

Scope:

The Treasurer of Bel-Inizio oversees the organization’s financial management, ensuring transparency, accountability, and sound fiscal stewardship. As Chair of the Finance Committee, the Treasurer provides leadership in budgeting, financial reporting, and long-term financial planning, partnering closely with the Executive Director to maintainthe financial health of the organization.

ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Oversight
  • Has responsibility for the organization’s funds and securities.
  • Maintainsfamiliaritywith the organization’s financial policies, accounts, and obligations.
  • Ensures appropriate internalcontrols and separation of duties are in place.
Budgeting & Planning
  • Facilitatespreparation of the annual budget in collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance Committee.
  • Preparesmonthly financial statements, comparing actual revenues and expenses to the approved budget.
  • Conductsmonthly Finance Committee meetings to review current financials with the Executive Director and committee members.
  • Presentsand discussesyear-to-date financial performance at each Board meeting.
Reporting & Compliance
  • Maintainsa thorough understanding of the organization’s financial statements and key financial ratios.
  • Keepsthe Board informed of major financial developments, trends, and risks.
  • Reviewsand providesinput on the organization’s annual audit and IRS Form 990 prior to submission.
Financial Liaison & Education
  • Promotesfinancial literacy within the Board to support informed decision-making.
  • Translatesfinancial information and concepts for Board members who may not have a financial background.
Time Commitment
  • Attendsall Board meetings (six annually) and monthly Finance Committee meetings.
  • Leads and participatesin the annual budget review and audit process.
  • Estimated time commitment: 2–3 hours per month, with additionaltime requiredduring budget and audit cycles.
