What is an Ing?

The term 'Ing' is not widely recognized as a specific job title in most professional fields. It may be a typo or an abbreviation for a longer word such as 'Engineer' (ingeniero in Spanish, abbreviated as 'Ing.'). In many countries, especially Spanish-speaking ones, 'Ing.' is used as a professional title for engineers. If you are referring to 'Ing.' in this context, it denotes someone with an engineering degree who is qualified to work in various engineering disciplines. Engineers solve technical problems, design systems, and oversee projects in fields ranging from civil to electrical engineering.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Engineer, you need strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and a relevant engineering degree, often supported by licensure such as a Professional Engineer (PE) certification. Proficiency with technical tools like CAD software, simulation programs, and industry-specific systems is typically required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability help engineers excel in collaborative and dynamic environments. These skills are crucial for developing effective solutions, ensuring project success, and maintaining high safety and quality standards.

What are some common challenges faced by engineers when working on cross-functional teams?

Engineers often collaborate with professionals from diverse backgrounds such as design, product management, and marketing. One common challenge is bridging communication gaps—translating technical concepts into accessible language for non-engineers. Balancing differing priorities and timelines among team members can also be demanding. Successful engineers are proactive in seeking feedback, clarifying requirements, and fostering a collaborative culture to ensure project goals are met effectively.

  • Apply cross-retailer learnings while accounting for differences in execution models, reporting, and media capabilities.

RMN-First Activation & Complementary Third-Party Media
  • Lead recommendations that prioritize retailer-owned RMN capabilities, layering in relevant third-party partners only when they strengthen the shopper or promotion-led strategy.

  • Maintain familiarity with complementary partners that support shopper and promotion-led activation (e.g., Ogury, Promopoint, RRD, Fetch, Hip2Save, Krazy Coupon Lady), while ensuring RMNs remain the foundation of all plans.

RFP Leadership & Strategic POV
  • Lead retailer and vendor RFP processes, developing inputs, evaluating proposals, and delivering clear client POVs with supporting rationale on how best to proceed.

  • Manage annual vendor and retailer partnerships to ensure competitive rates, strong added value, and test-and-learn innovation opportunities.

Budget Ownership, Measurement & Optimization
  • Own detailed budget allocation, flighting, and governance across programs.

  • Ensure all client-facing documentation is accurate and all savings and value-adds are clearly documented.

  • Define KPIs and measurement frameworks aligned to RMN reporting, monitor in-market performance, identify optimizations, and deliver insights-driven performance readouts with clear recommendations.

  • Retail Media Network (RMN) experience is foundational, including managed service execution and retailer-specific workflows.

  • Strong ability to deliver client-ready recommendations, with clear communication, strong POV development, and confident presentation skills.

  • High attention to detail with strong quantitative skills and advanced proficiency in Excel/Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides.
