Job description

Infusion Nurse

Sage Infusion is looking for a patient focused Infusion Nurse to join our Tampa team. Hiring an Infusion Care Nurse averaging 30-40 hours per week.

As a retail infusion center, the Infusion Nurse responsibilities will include patient check-in, inventory and supply surveillance, and assisting the NP/PA with patient care. In addition, the Infusion Nurse will support administering and monitoring patients in our premises during treatment and provide the necessary education on treatment regimen, condition management, and treatment side-effects when appropriate. The Infusion Nurse is an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team and will work closely with other staff. This position will be full time in Tampa Bay (St. Pete, Clearwater, Trinity) (Float) with weekend and night availability.

Requirements

  • Performs initial screening for patients upon arrival to infusion center to include asking patient screening questions, obtaining vital signs, obtaining weight, allergy information, and medication history as appropriate. Notifies appropriate staff of positive screening or abnormal vital signs. Documents collected data completely and accurately in medical record.
  • Brings patient to their designated treatment area and provides patients with available amenities.
  • Assists practitioners with infusion care including placement of peripheral IVs and setting up required equipment (IV pole, IV start kits, BP machine, etc).
  • Assists with ensuring infusion center patient flow is smooth and efficient, including checking patients in and out of their appointment.
  • Provides support to the provider in the form of patient checks, vital sign checks, and/or assisting patients with ambulating to restroom during their infusion
  • Complete tasks such as starting a PIV using aseptic technique, flushing PIV using aseptic technique, removal of PIV and applying bandage, and charting tasks as appropriate
  • If delegated, reconstitution and administration of medications after completing required training with Supervising Provider
  • Administration of subcutaneous injections as delegated by Supervising Provider
  • Patient education regarding administration details and potential Side Effects of medications
  • Follow up with patients regarding side effects and/or adverse reactions as delegated by Supervising Provider
  • Coordinate with Supervising Provider to deliver immediate and appropriate treatment in response to patient adverse reactions/emergency situations
  • Maintenance of BLS Certification
  • Communicates effectively to patients, providers, and other team members.
  • Clean and sanitize infusion rooms and equipment between patients and at end of day.
  • Other duties as delegated by the provider.

Licensed/Experience:

  • Florida Registered Nurse license
  • Maintains BLS certification
  • Maintains compliance with continuing and mandatory education
  • Ability to speak Spanish is highly preferred
