This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both mechanical systems and software development, combining hardware integration, test operations, automation, and data acquisition.
The successful candidate will take ownership of test assets and facilities, design and improve test setups, develop software tools and scripts to automate testing and data analysis, and work closely with design and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable and efficient test execution. This position offers a unique blend of mechanical engineering, laboratory operations, and programming.Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and maintain test infrastructure supporting development, qualification, and production programs
  • Design, build, and improve test setups, fixtures, instrumentation, and supporting hardware
  • Develop and maintain software tools, scripts, and automation frameworks for test execution, data acquisition, and analysis
  • Write Python and other software scripts to improve testing efficiency, repeatability, and reporting
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and software issues within test systems
  • Support test planning, execution, and documentation for engineering and production programs
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and systems engineers to define test requirements and implement test solutions
  • Monitor test equipment health, calibration status, and facility readiness
  • Analyze test data and provide clear technical summaries and recommendations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for test operations, infrastructure reliability, and automation capabilities
  • Support the development of new test capabilities as propulsion technologies and programs evolve
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, or operating hardware systems
  • Experience developing software tools, scripts, or automation using Python or similar programming languages
  • Experience working with laboratory, manufacturing, or test equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across both hardware and software domains
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on engineering environment with significant laboratory and test-floor involvement
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently own technical projects
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing automated test systems, data acquisition systems, or hardware-in-the-loop test environments
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, DAQ systems, LabVIEW, National Instruments hardware, or similar test platforms
  • Experience with aerospace, propulsion, vacuum systems, thermal systems, or other high-reliability hardware
  • Experience designing custom test fixtures, support equipment, or experimental hardware
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with configuration control and engineering documentation practices
  • Experience supporting prototype development, qualification testing, or production test operations

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform hands-on assembly and fine motor tasks as required
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
Benefits
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Retirement savings plan (401k)
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
