Job description

Piper Companies is seeking an EKS Security Engineer to support a leading technology-focused organization by ensuring the security, compliance, and resilience of enterprise Kubernetes environments. The EKS Security Engineer will be responsible for hardening Amazon EKS clusters, validating secure configurations, and implementing cloud-native security best practices across AWS infrastructure. Responsibilities of the EKS Security Engineer: โ€ข Assess, configure, and harden Amazon EKS clusters to align with security and compliance standards. โ€ข Conduct security reviews of Kubernetes environments, including RBAC, network policies, pod security controls, and cluster configurations. โ€ข Implement and maintain security controls across AWS services supporting Kubernetes workloads. โ€ข Identify vulnerabilities and misconfigurations within containerized environments and drive remediation efforts. โ€ข Partner with platform, DevOps, and cloud engineering teams to establish secure Kubernetes deployment standards. โ€ข Develop and maintain security baselines, policies, and governance frameworks for EKS environments. โ€ข Monitor cluster security posture and support incident response and threat detection initiatives. โ€ข Leverage security tools such as AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, Falco, or similar technologies to improve visibility and compliance. Qualifications of the EKS Security Engineer: โ€ขMust be eligible to obtain a secret clearance. โ€ข 5+ years of experience in cloud security, infrastructure security, or Kubernetes security engineering. โ€ข Strong hands-on experience securing Amazon EKS and Kubernetes environments. โ€ข Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, RBAC, admission controllers, network policies, and container security best practices. โ€ข Experience implementing security controls within AWS, including IAM, VPCs, Security Groups, KMS, CloudTrail, and related services. โ€ข Knowledge of compliance frameworks and security hardening standards such as CIS Benchmarks and NIST. โ€ข Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. โ€ข Familiarity with container security platforms and vulnerability management tools. โ€ข Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security Specialty, CKS, CKA, or CISSP are preferred.
