Job description

Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?
Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
Senior Technical Product Manager, Data Platform
As a Senior Technical Product Manager at Tempus, you'll be on the front lines of our effort to develop and deliver cutting-edge technology into the hands of clinicians. The software we're building is the culmination of input from scientists, clinicians, pathologists, engineers, data scientists, and some of the top academic oncology centers in the world. We're expanding our team of product managers who bring those inputs together to design, scope, and build solutions to some of the toughest problems in cancer care.
We're looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to lead critical components of the Data Platform product team focused on healthcare interoperability, real-time data exchange, and scalable integration infrastructure. In this role, you'll help shape the systems that power secure ingestion, standardization, orchestration, and delivery of clinical data across Tempus' platform. You'll work across on-premises and cloud environments to build products that make data exchange faster, more reliable, and more actionable for internal teams and external partners.
If you're passionate about enabling seamless healthcare data exchange to power AI-driven clinical insights, this is your opportunity to lead that change.
What You'll Do:
  • Immerse yourself in the tough problems we're solving, and partner with scientists, engineers, ML/AI engineering teams, and designers to develop elegant software solutions.
  • Define and own product strategy for key areas of the Tempus Data Platform, with a focus on secure, scalable, and interoperable data exchange and processing.
  • Drive capabilities that improve the speed, quality, and consistency of clinical data ingestion, processing, and delivery across a variety of healthcare integration patterns.
  • Lead product initiatives that advance real-time interoperability and standardized record processing across core data ingress pathways.
  • Partner with engineering to evolve products that support API-based integrations, record transformation and validation, workflow orchestration, observability, and operational controls.
  • Champion user empathy for integrators, data engineers, clinical operations teams, and external partners, ensuring workflows are intuitive, reliable, and scalable across on-premises and cloud-based deployment models.
  • Help define how the platform supports trusted data exchange through strong privacy, identity, and auditability foundations.
  • Explore and prioritize opportunities to leverage AI to streamline integration setup, data mapping, anomaly detection, and operational troubleshooting across the platform.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure platform performance, reliability, adoption, and data quality, using those insights to guide both short- and long-term roadmap decisions.
  • Own the roadmap for your product area and partner with Product Managers and Product leadership to align on priorities, sequencing, and execution.
  • Be a key player in defining business requirements, project execution plans, and launch strategy for new integration and platform capabilities.
  • Conduct deep product analysis and use data to guide decision-making and prioritization.
  • Own stakeholder communication and expectation management around roadmap and delivery timelines for your products.
  • Lead operational change management for production changes and related workflow impacts on internal teams and integration partners.
  • Contribute to the maturation of product and engineering practices through clear ownership, strong execution discipline, and thoughtful cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of technical product management experience, with at least 2 years focused on enterprise integration platforms, data platforms, interoperability products, or cloud infrastructure services.
  • Healthcare data standards such as DICOM, HL7, and FHIR.
  • Real-time interoperability and clinical data integration workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience managing API products, integration workflows, data transfer systems, or on-premises software solutions.
  • Experience working with agile software development teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to act as a translator among diverse teams of biologists, medical professionals, engineers, operators, data scientists, and external partners.
  • Strong ability to define product requirements for complex platform capabilities and drive alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in one or more of the following is a significant plus:
  • Workflow orchestration, observability, or operational platform tooling.
  • Cloud integration patterns (AWS, GCP).
  • On-premises deployment models and connectivity.
  • Familiarity with privacy, identity, governance, security, and compliance considerations in a regulated industry such as healthcare.
