Job description

About SOLV4EX:
SOLV4EX is a growing global organization that supports the brands within the SOLV4EX Group: Discover Battery, Canadian Energy, Discover Manufacturing, and Discover Energy Systems. Together, we sell, manufacture, and support batteries and battery storage systems for industries including automotive, renewable energy, telecommunications, and industrial power. Through research and development, manufacturing, distribution, and business services, we deliver reliable energy solutions to customers around the world.

The SOLV4EX IT team manages a modern, cloud-first environment across two distinct companies, each with their own identity and infrastructure stack. This role sits at the center of that operation.

Check out our website:https://solv4ex.com

About the Position:

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with real breadth. You will own critical platforms independently, serve as the primary escalation point for the helpdesk across a geographically distributed workforce, and move comfortably between identity management, network operations, endpoint security, cloud infrastructure, and user support. This is not a narrow, single-focus role. If you enjoy variety, take pride in operational reliability, and want to be a trusted technical resource on a small team where your work actually matters, apply today!

As a SOLV4EX team member, a typical week will include the following:

End User Support & Helpdesk Operations

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex helpdesk issues across 21+ locations, providing remote support via Splashtop and occasional on-site visits
  • Manage IT onboarding and offboarding end-to-end across both environments: account provisioning, device setup, access assignment, and equipment recovery
  • Administer Freshservice (ITSM platform), KnowBe4 security awareness training, and Exclaimer Cloud email signatures

Identity, Access & Collaboration

  • Administer the Okta identity platform: SSO integrations, MFA policies, application provisioning, lifecycle management, and Okta Workflows automation
  • Manage the full Microsoft 365 tenant for both organizations: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and licensing
  • Support Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and Defender for Endpoint in the second environment; administer Zoom, Box, and Google Workspace for the user populations that rely on them

Infrastructure, Network & Security

  • Administer Cisco Meraki network infrastructure across all 21 locations: firewalls, switches, wireless access points, site-to-site VPN, DHCP, VLAN management, and firewall policy
  • Own Bitdefender Gravity Zone EDR end-to-end: policy configuration, agent deployment, alert triage, and incident response
  • Manage Barracuda email security and web filtering, administer Verkada physical security and Avaya Cloud Office telephony, and handle email authentication (DMARC, DKIM, SPF) and SSL certificate renewals

Cloud, Systems & Monitoring

  • Manage Azure virtual machines and cloud resources across both environments: provisioning, patching, monitoring, backup, and cost optimization
  • Administer Cloudflare for DNS, CDN, and firewall configuration; manage domain renewals and DNS records through GoDaddy
  • Own LogicMonitor infrastructure monitoring and Grafana dashboards for Azure server visibility; use MxToolbox for email deliverability and DNS diagnostics
  • Maintain and test backup and disaster recovery procedures; ensure recovery runbooks are current and tested

Operational Tools, Assets & Documentation

  • Administer Bartender label printing software: create and test label templates, troubleshoot printer issues, and configure new printers across locations
  • Maintain IT asset records across the hardware lifecycle and coordinate hardware procurement, imaging, and deployment
  • Keep system documentation and IT knowledge base materials current and genuinely useful

Projects, Vendors & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain the MDT build server for Windows endpoint imaging and deployment across S4X locations
  • Manage vendor relationships including telecommunications carriers (Rogers, Bell) for ISP and telephony, and coordinate software license renewals for key platforms including Microsoft and Cisco Meraki
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects including new location buildouts, system migrations, and platform upgrades
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and strengthen IT operations

The Location:This position is located at the SOLV4EX Head Office in Calgary, AB. Candidates must be located in Calgary. Primarily in-office with flexibility for occasional remote work days.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on IT operations or systems administration experience, ideally in a multi-site or distributed organization.
  • College or University diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience; we value what you can do over credentials alone.
  • Comfortable independently managing a broad platform portfolio with minimal day-to-day direction.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory, and enterprise networking fundamentals (VLANs, VPN, DNS, DHCP, firewalls).
  • Experience with an IAM or SSO platform (Okta experience is a strong advantage; we will consider candidates with other platforms who are motivated to learn).
  • Experience with an enterprise EDR platform (Bitdefender Gravity Zone, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike, or similar).
  • Experience supporting distributed users with a mix of remote and occasional on-site support.

Nice to Have

  • Cisco Meraki experience or CCNA certification.
  • Microsoft certifications: MD-102, MS-102, AZ-104, or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and Defender for Endpoint experience.
  • Experience with Cloudflare, Barracuda, or similar web security and email security platforms.
  • PowerShell scripting for automating administrative tasks.
  • Linux server administration (Rocky Linux, RHEL, or Ubuntu).
  • Experience with physical security platforms (Verkada or similar) or cloud phone systems.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.

Who You Are

  • You take ownership - the platforms in your care are yours to keep healthy and you see things through without needing to be prompted.
  • You are comfortable with breadth - identity one morning, network troubleshooting after lunch - you switch gears without losing focus.
  • You think security-first - it is a lens you apply to every decision, not a box you check at the end.
  • You communicate clearly - you can explain a technical problem plainly to a non-technical manager and write documentation others can actually follow.
  • You keep learning - you stay current, pick up new tools quickly, and bring ideas back to the team.
  • You are a team player - small team, real collaboration, no one here is too senior to pitch in where it is needed.

Compensation:

  • Market competitive base salary.
  • Relevant job training and opportunities for career development- we strive to empower our employees to pursue their professional objectives!
  • Health and Dental Benefits.
  • Monthly exercise reimbursement program.
