Join our team as the Chief Engineer at Residence Inn Wilmington Downtown!
Are you ready to take the lead in ensuring our hotel's infrastructure runs flawlessly? As Chief Engineer, you'll oversee and enhance all aspects of our property's operations. Your expertise will be vital in managing maintenance, handling repairs, and implementing preventative measures. If you have a knack for leadership and a commitment to operational excellence, we want to hear from you!
Your Role:
As our Chief Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance and functionality of our hotel's infrastructure. Some of your responsibilities include:
  • Lead and supervise the Engineering team, ensuring effective performance and high standards.
  • Participate in hiring, training, development, and performance management of staff.
  • Handle maintenance requests swiftly and effectively, ensuring guest satisfaction with timely solutions.
  • Follow established procedures and policies diligently, and report emergencies or unusual situations immediately.
  • Monitor expenses including energy, labor, and inventory and manage against department budget goals.
  • Perform a range of preventative maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and minor repairs, contributing to the upkeep of guest rooms, meeting rooms, equipment, and furniture.
  • Conduct regular property walks to monitor cleanliness, lighting, and irrigation, and address any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Immediately follow up on any alarms or safety concerns.
  • Assist in maintaining health code requirements for the pool and spa.
  • Assist with other operations as needed, including setting up meetings or assisting housekeeping in stripping rooms and sanitizing public areas.
  • Establish and maintain key control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including coordinating fire safety inspections and drills
  • Chair the Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:
  • 3+ years of Engineering experience in a hotel or similar field.
  • Leadership experience required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a 2 to 4-year college degree is a plus.
  • Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
  • Must be proficient with Windows operating systems.
  • Must have valid driver's license for applicable state and an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
