Job description

The Network and Systems Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of VitalSkin Dermatology's network and systems infrastructure across all clinic and corporate locations. This role ensures high levels of availability, security, and performance for critical business and clinical systems. The candidate will be a part of the infrastructure team, supporting ongoing projects, operational maturity planning, system upgrades, and strategic technology initiatives, including active acquisition and integration work. This role also requires advanced knowledge of IT best practices, change management, and operationalizing and standardizing an IT systems framework.

$105,000 – $115,000 a year with Full-time benefits

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Design, configure, and maintain core network infrastructure, including Arista switches, FortiGate firewalls, Mikrotik routers, VPNs, and wireless systems, across 40+ clinic locations
  • Maintain and administer server infrastructure, virtualized environments, and cloud-based systems (Microsoft 365/Azure), including VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, Proxmox, and vSphere
  • Manage and support on-premises Active Directory, including Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and hybrid identity sync with Entra ID
  • Administer Microsoft 365 tenants, including multi-tenant environments (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID/Azure AD)
  • Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions using Veeam
  • Monitor network and system performance to ensure availability, reliability, and security
  • Troubleshoot complex network and systems issues, providing Tier 2 and above technical support
  • Implement and maintain security controls, including firewalls, MFA, endpoint protection, and adherence to best practices
  • Plan and execute network and system upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle replacements, including support for clinic openings and acquisition integrations
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures/SOPs
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers on projects, escalations, and service improvements
  • Participate in after-hours support as needed
  • Mentor junior team members and provide guidance to IT support staff
QualificationsRequired Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years in network/systems engineering roles
  • Hands-on experience managing FortiGate firewalls and FortiManager
  • Hands-on experience configuring Arista switches
  • Experience supporting on-premises Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 tenants and Entra ID/Azure AD, including hybrid AD/Entra environments; multi-tenant experience a plus
  • Experience with Veeam backup and replication
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms, including VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, and vSphere
  • Proficiency with MikroTik routers and VeloCloud SD-WAN
  • Experience supporting multi-site or distributed environments (healthcare experience a plus)

  • Expertise in network protocols, routing, switching, and security principles
  • Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPN technologies, and network segmentation
  • Solid grounding in virtualization, backup systems, and disaster recovery
  • Sound understanding of cybersecurity best practices and frameworks
  • Skilled in configuring next-generation firewalls and secure remote access solutions
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting and Linux command line administration
  • Working knowledge of change management and ITIL best practices
