Job description

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer Lead at JPMorgan Chase within Corporate Structure - Infrastructure Platforms team, you will provide infrastructure solution design and delivery, ensuring platforms are secure, resilient, scalable, and compliant. As a lead within our Infrastructure Engineering team, you'll partner with application teams and technology partners to translate business and technology requirements into implementable infrastructure designs, proactively mitigate operational and delivery risk, and drive engineering standards across environments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Solution Design - Lead the design and architecture of infrastructure solutions across compute, storage, network, and virtualization platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and business objectives.
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate analysis of complex infrastructure signals and documentation of mitigation options, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Project Delivery - Drive infrastructure initiatives from concept to production, including build, migration, upgrade, and decommission activities; and oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Operational Excellence - Establish and enforce runbooks, monitoring and alerting standards, capacity planning, and operational readiness criteria while continuously improving incident prevention, detection, and response measures.
  • Risk - Proactively identifying infrastructure risks such as resiliency gaps, single points of failure, capacity constraints, and security exposures, developing and executing risk mitigation plans, including architectural changes and remediation roadmaps.
  • Requirements Translation - Translate business requirements into engineering requirements and technical designs, ensuring solutions align with technology strategy, roadmaps, and architectural guardrails and evaluate technology products and services, contribute to selection decisions, and guide implementation and integration to optimize platform capabilities.
  • Security & Compliance - Ensure infrastructure designs incorporate security-by-design principles, including identity and access controls, encryption, segmentation, patching, vulnerability management, and auditability and support governance activities such as risk assessments, control reviews, technology lifecycle management, and change management.
  • Automation & Modernization - Drive adoption of automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and repeatable deployment patterns and lead infrastructure modernization initiatives such as data center migration and platform standardization.
  • Collaboration & Communication - Foster strong partnerships with application teams, technology partners, and stakeholders and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leads reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted practices across delivery and automation routines to reduce recurring issues, ensuring changes are validated, traceable and auditable, and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
Required Qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, with proven ownership of solution design and delivery in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalating when uncertain and ensuring outcomes align to resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
  • Deep expertise in multiple domains, including Windows/Linux systems, virtualization and/or containers (e.g., ESXi, VMware), networking (DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls), storage, and backup/recovery concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design reviews, influence decision-making, and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in risk management, resiliency planning (HA/DR), and operational readiness.
  • Proficiency with observability stacks (metrics, logs, traces), capacity forecasting, and performance engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation and present to leadership.
Preferred Qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, automation and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerCLI)
  • Familiarity with security and regulatory controls, vulnerability remediation processes, and audit support.
  • Experience leading infrastructure modernization (e.g., data center migration, platform standardization).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud integration.
