Job description

The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Structural Bridge Engineering Intern in our St. Charles, Illinois office.
The Structural Engineering Intern position involves working as an entry level associate assisting the St. Charles Highway Group with the development of studies, reports, and bridge construction plans. This position focuses on mastering technical work functions and developing and expanding professional discipline skills. Associate performs routine engineering assignments and works under the direct supervision of others, compiles data, utilizes applied software and technology to perform engineering analysis, assists in the preparation of reports, completes elementary design calculations, prepares quantity takeoffs and estimates, prepares engineering plans utilizing CADD, and observes ongoing and completed construction projects.
Qualifications:
  • Working toward obtaining Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • 0 to 4 years of bridge/structural design experience
  • Exposure to AutoCAD and/or Microstation preferred
  • Previous internship experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internship or related experience
  • AutoCAD and / or Microstation experience
  • Experience or exposure to IDOT plans preparation and design standards
  • Specific interest in Transportation / Roadway Design
