Join a team transforming the way Apple plans, strategizes, and delivers cloud infrastructure. The Cloud Infrastructure Business Operations (CIBO) Demand team sits at an exciting intersection between engineering, operations, and finance, driving the infrastructure planning process that powers Apple's ecosystem.\\n\\nAs a Strategic Demand Planner & Capacity Analyst, you will be part of a dedicated team building the Cloud Infrastructure Capacity Planning function. You will work with cross-functional business partners to translate demand signals into robust, capacity models across cloud resources, data centers, and hardware. This role offers the opportunity to apply technical expertise in cloud infrastructure and advanced analytical capabilities to optimize capacity planning, maximize resource utilization, and ensure seamless scalability.
In this position, you will be responsible for driving the capacity modeling and planning process for cloud infrastructure to support applications, including customer-facing services like iCloud, Maps, Siri, and Media. You'll be part of a small team dedicated to investigating and modeling capacity requirements across cloud services, working with cross-functional business partners to ensure infrastructure scales efficiently. In this role, you will:\n\nDesign, build, and maintain advanced capacity models that translate service demand into precise infrastructure requirements, driving actionable insights for deployment strategy.\n\nModel capacity with deep uncertainty, running scenario analyses and simulations to provide insights that drive decisions even when input variables are constantly moving.\n\nDevelop strategies for optimizing infrastructure capacity, including buffer sizing, utilization efficiency, inventory positioning, and liability management.\n\nWork closely with infrastructure software development platform teams for ongoing enhancements to automate capacity models, reducing reliance on manual planning tools.\n\nIntegrate various capacity planning practices to ensure capacity models used across larger properties leverage comparable methodologies, tools, and process flows.\n\nUse quantitative analysis to recommend large-scale capacity investments and procurement decisions to leadership.\n\nManage risks, schedules, and stakeholders to successfully launch infrastructure capacity programs supporting a wide array of Apple services.\n\nDrive process improvements and develop new tooling to support scalable capacity management processes.\n\nWhat you'll learn\n\nHow Apple plans infrastructure at a massive-scale from demand signal to deployment\nModeling capacity with deep uncertainty. You will provide insight that drives decisions even when forecast is always moving\nHow to use quantitative analysis to recommend large-scale procurement decisions and investments to leadership
Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant professional experience, OR a Master's degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.\n2+ years experience in infrastructure capacity planning, operations, data analytics, or related fields.\nProficiency using Excel, VBA, Python, SQL, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools to build and optimize capacity models.\nHands-on experience building complex forecasting and capacity models, running scenario analyses, and working with large datasets.\nDemonstrated ability to distill complex quantitative concepts and analytical outputs into concise, high-impact communications.\nDirect experience handling sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.\nAbility to be onsite; this role is an in-person, onsite position.\nAvailable to work nights and weekends as needed.\nUp to 10% travel required, both domestic and international.
\nMaster's degree in Operations, Engineering, Data Science, or an MBA.\nExperience integrating disparate data sources to automate capacity planning workflows.\nExperience presenting to and communicating with senior leadership, up to and including the VP level.\nKnowledge of or experience with cloud architectures (e.g., micro-services vs. monolithic), compute/storage utilization metrics, and associated operations models.\nProven ability to navigate ambiguity and respond quickly to new inputs in a highly dynamic environment.\nDemonstrated track record of initiating projects independently and driving cross-functional programs to completion.\nStrong ability to influence and collaborate effectively within a multi-functional organization.\n
