Key job responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Managers (3-9 areas and front-line managers) and 100-150 hourly associates within Regional Data Centers.
  • Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
  • Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.
  • Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective including mentoring and training.
  • Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the globe.
  • Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including data center managers and data center operations technicians. Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center buildouts, new colocation buildouts, AWS data center expansions, and colocation expansions, including the network and server rack infrastructure to facilitate the daily operations.
  • Experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific tasks balancing internal skillsets with frugality.
  • Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.

This role supports data centers in various operational stages. The position may be assigned to a facility still under development, which could require travel to established locations for training until your designated site becomes fully operational.

Essential Requirements
  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational
  • Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility
  • Candidates must be able to travel (over 50 miles) or commute (less than 50 miles) to active data center sites as required by business needs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in technical work related to computer systems and technology components
  • 7+ years management experience in an operations, critical infrastructure, manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
  • 3+ years' experience implementing LEAN/6 Sigma methodology (continuous improvement, DMAIC/DVADV, 5 Whys, Root Cause analysis, etc.)
  • 3+ Years of experience in working with network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, and experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies within a data center-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • 7+ years of mission critical facilities experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
  • Safety, security, and availability of incident response, incident management, and incident resolution.
  • 7+ years' experience managing geographically dispersed teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
