Infotainment Engineer I

Hyundai's North American Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for an Engineer I for the Infotainment Team.

The Team:

NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)'s North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations. 

The Position:

The Infotainment Engineer I would focus on the continuous development and enhancement of infotainment systems for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing field and on-site investigations and root cause analysis regarding infotainment-related issues

What You Will Do
  • Participate in quality gate audits with affiliates, vendors, and HMG teams to evaluate newly released test software, identify emerging quality issues, and verify resolution plans to ensure complete software development prior to market release
  • Utilize warranty claim analysis and severity assessments to conduct quality investigations on Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia vehicles and their respective infotainment and other electronic systems
  • Plan and conduct comprehensive end-to-end testing for connected car services
  • Execute field and on-site investigations to identify, analyze, replicate, and resolve quality-related issues for infotainment systems
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of prototype vehicles to identify and address potential quality issues prior to product launch
  • Develop test cases for new system evaluations to perform in-depth assessments of various infotainment systems
  • Publish technical reports on infotainment system evaluations and investigations to provide HMG R&D and Quality teams with recommendations for improvement
  • Perform failure analysis on infotainment and electrical components to diagnose infotainment-related issues and share findings with the corresponding vendor(s) and other quality divisions via investigation reports
  • Provide technical support and participate in various product evaluation programs with NA sales affiliates and assembly plants
  • Conduct Over-The-Air (OTA) update validations to confirm market deployment readiness
  • Support dealers and vendors with infotainment-related issues by performing root cause analysis and providing solutions/countermeasures
  • Perform supplier audits to ensure NA meets HMG's quality standards
  • Identify market trends via customer feedback, external indices (e.g., J.D. Power and Consumer Reports), customer forums, and automotive syndicated studies
  • Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders (i.e., HMG R&D, suppliers, other quality departments, etc.) to resolve complex, quality-related issues
  • Travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering
  • 0-3 years of experience working with infotainment systems
  • QA/QC/QI experience
  • Familiarity with Vector CANalyzer/CANoe/CANape, Oscilloscope, and Spectrum analyzer
  • Root cause analysis skills
  • Experience conducting field and on-site investigations
  • Familiarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks concerning infotainment systems
  • Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to perform additional projects and tasks (as assigned) to support the overall mission, vision, and goals of NAQC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail

  • Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
