Job description

About the Position

Golden State is looking for a dynamic Manager to join our Information Technology team. In this role, you will lead a small, dedicated network team and play a crucial part in the delivery and security of core network services across two arenas (Chase Center and KP Arena) and three office locations (San Francisco, Oakland, and Santa Cruz).
This position requires a unique "player-coach" blend of technical network engineering expertise and managerial skills as you will oversee infrastructure projects and mentor your team while simultaneously acting as a senior hands-on resource to assist with network engineering and escalations. This position reports to the Director, IT Security & Networking.

This is a full-time position based onsite in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the network administration team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, exceptional customer service, and professional growth
  • Assist the team with day-to-day network engineering tasks, providing operational support for WAN, LAN, WiFi, and data center technologies
  • Oversee and maintain network switches (Aruba), routers (Juniper), and next-gen firewalls (Palo Alto Networks)
  • Manage the high-density wireless network infrastructure (Aruba APs, ClearPass, Mobility, Airwave) within our arenas, ensuring seamless performance for fans, media, and operations.
  • Drive the strategy for IT network infrastructure, collaborating with the Director and other IT managers to evaluate, design, and implement new technologies with minimal disruption to business operations
  • Partner with the IT Security team to identify, evaluate, and implement robust network security controls, ensuring continuous compliance with security policies and industry best practices
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex network technical issues; monitor network health and track, document, and approve network changes in line with IT change management protocols
  • Develop and enforce governance, policies, and procedures related to IT networking; ensure detailed, up-to-date LAN, WAN, and WiFi documentation, including network diagrams and configuration records
  • Collaborate with network vendors and service providers to manage relationships and ensure high-quality service delivery; oversee structured network cabling standards in data centers and IDFs
  • Provide on-site network engineering escalation support and leadership during critical events
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or technology field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, securing, and supporting complex WiFi and LAN/WAN technologies (Aruba environments preferred); 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role directly managing network administrators or an infrastructure team
  • Experience supporting high-density network environments in retail, large entertainment venues, or stadiums is a plus
  • Advanced certifications such as Aruba (ACSP, ACMA, HPE-CA, HPE-S), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), or Palo Alto (PCNSE/PAN-NGFE) are highly desirable; CompTIA Network+ or equivalents are a plus
  • Deep proficiency in Layer 2 technologies (Spanning Tree, 802.1Q, Dynamic/Private VLANs) and Layer 3 routing protocols
  • Extensive experience with WiFi/WLAN architecture, high-density wireless environments, Network Access Control (NAC) solutions (ClearPass preferred), and next-gen firewalls (Palo Alto preferred)
  • Experience integrating network infrastructure with cloud technologies (Google Cloud, Azure, AWS) and deploying robust VPN solutions (IPSec tunnels).
  • Hands-on experience managing DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) solutions (such as Infoblox or EfficientIP) within high-performance, high-availability network architectures to guarantee maximum uptime and optimal service delivery
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead network deployments from conception to completion
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time-management skills and communications skills (verbal and written)
  • High degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability; ability to manage competing priorities under minimal supervision

Time Commitment

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as dictated by game and event schedules

Compensation

  • $155,000 - $164,000 + Bonus
