The Company was co-founded in 2022 by Drs. Athena Countouriotis and Mohammad Hirmand (former CEO and CMO of Turning Point Therapeutics, Inc., respectively). Our team is passionate about and committed to advancing a pipeline of potentially differentiated targeted oncology programs that make a difference in the lives of people with cancer. The Company is headquartered in San Diego, California.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Information Technology (IT) will be responsible for defining, developing and executing an enterprise IT strategy that enables clinical and operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and company growth. The candidate will serve as the primary technology advisor to the CEO, CFO and executive leadership team while partnering with functional leaders to ensure technology investments are focused on the areas that create the greatest value for the organization. The successful candidate is a hands-on leader who will operate strategically while making practical decisions that strengthen infrastructure, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, data and analytics capabilities, SOX controls and the overall end-user experience while building a scalable, secure, and efficient technology environment. In addition, the candidate will oversee the companyโ€™s Facilities strategy and operations.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Define and execute an enterprise IT strategy and multi-year technology roadmap aligned with the companyโ€™s clinical, operational, and business priorities
  • Serve as strategic advisor to the CEO, CFO and executive leadership and partner across functions to assess needs, prioritize investments, and ensure technology enables business objectives and company growth
  • Establish and maintain appropriate IT governance, cybersecurity, data privacy, risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery capabilities for a regulated biotech environment
  • Champion the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, and digital transformation solutions that improve productivity, decisionโ€‘making and business outcomes
  • Develop an AI governance framework addressing appropriate governance, data privacy, intellectual property, security and risk, responsible use and regulatory considerations
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity and information risk management program that protects intellectual property, research data, patientโ€‘related information, and other sensitive company assets
  • Ensure IT systems and processes meet applicable regulatory, privacy, security, and compliance requirements
  • Strengthen data management, analytics, reporting, and integration capabilities to improve visibility, decisionโ€‘making, and crossโ€‘functional collaboration.
  • Lead the establishment, implementation and maintenance of IT controls supporting SOX compliance and financial reporting
  • Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and Legal to ensure SOX controls are appropriately designed, maintained, documented, tested, and remediated
  • Oversee business continuity, disaster recovery, incident response, identity and access management, and thirdโ€‘party technology risk
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic oversight of the companyโ€™s Facilities function and physical infrastructure
  • Build, develop and lead a highโ€‘performing IT function, including internal talent and external vendors and consultants
  • Manage technology budgets, vendor relations and investment decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related area degree preferred (e.g., MBA) with 15+ years of progressive IT Leadership experience in the life sciences industry or an equivalent combination of academic and industry experience
  • Executive leadership experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life science, healthcare, or another complex regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing enterprise technology strategies for private and public companies
  • Experience supporting clinicalโ€‘stage, lateโ€‘stage development, or preโ€‘commercial life sciences organizations
  • Strong understanding of GxP environments, computerized systems validation, data integrity and technology controls
  • Experience with enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, AI, data platforms, system integration, and regulated technology environments
  • Experience with systems and processes that support Clinical Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Accounting, HR and Legal
  • Proven success to build and lead highโ€‘performing technology organizations
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience developing talent, fostering accountability, and effectively leveraging external partners and vendors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to lead through influence, collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and drive alignment across the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problemโ€‘solving abilities, with a strategic mindset
  • This position requires periodic/regular travel, including up to 5% of work time, which may include overnight travel

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $312,000 to $323,000 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to, the type and years of experience within the job and the industry, education, and skills and certifications.

Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and AD&D insurance. Additional benefit programs include shortโ€‘term and longโ€‘term disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, and voluntary insurance programs, including voluntary life, AD&D accident, and critical illness. Employees will also be able to enroll in the Companyโ€™s 401(k) plan. In addition, employees will receive discretionary paid vacation time and accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Employees also enjoy 17 paid holidays each calendar year, including a winter closure, subject to applicable Company policies. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents and Company policies, which may be amended from time to time.

Other Compensation

The hired candidate will be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus and an equity award, subject to the terms of the applicable employment agreement, plan documents, and Company policies.
