Job description

Title: Senior Project Manager (IT/Security) (Remote)
Duration: 1 year with 37.5 hours a week
Location: Remote
On-site (Springfield, IL) presence during the first week is required for onboarding and meeting the team (Minimum 3 days).
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support the Information Security team in planning, executing, and delivering IT security initiatives. This is a hands-on role requiring a technical project manager with cybersecurity ("security shop") experience who will actively manage projects-not just observe. The ideal candidate will be an integral part of the team, driving execution, anticipating risks, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Actively lead and manage projects end-to-end, ensuring timely and successful delivery
  • Track project status, monitor progress, and provide clear updates to stakeholders
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve issues proactively
  • Develop a strong understanding of project scope, timelines, and dependencies
  • Serve as a key partner to stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor ("project manager whisperer")
  • Be an integral part of the team, contributing to both planning and execution
  • Forecast potential risks/issues and communicate them effectively with mitigation strategies
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines
  • Create, assign, and manage tasks across project teams
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, leadership, and stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to EPMO standards, project charters, and required documentation. Coach teams on project management processes and best practices
  • Facilitate status meetings, reporting, and stakeholder communication
  • Drive audit remediation efforts, including identifying issues, defining tasks, and ensuring resolution
  • Support and manage change management initiatives
  • Oversee technical deployments, ensuring smooth execution
  • Collaborate closely with security teams to align priorities and execution

Required Qualifications
  • 8 years of experience in Project Management, including 5 years leading IT security initiatives
  • Proven experience as a hands-on Technical Project Manager in a cybersecurity environment
  • Experience working within an EPMO or PMO environment, with adherence to project governance standards, charter development, and required documentation
  • Strong ability to manage, not just coordinate, complex projects
  • Experience with Microsoft Project for planning and tracking
  • Experience with ServiceNow SPM (Strategic Portfolio Management) module
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (required)
  • Strong understanding of audit remediation, risk management, and compliance
  • Experience managing change management and technical deployments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and translate them into actionable plans.
