Job Summary:
The Press Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining single and multi-color offset presses to produce high-quality printed materials. This includes printing jobs involving solids, tints, halftones, and critical color matching while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate single or multi-color offset presses according to job specifications
  • Review job tickets and determine proper press setup and color requirements
  • Perform make-readies including hanging plates, installing cylinders, adjusting registration, and prepping blankets
  • Monitor print quality, ink density, registration, and overall press performance
  • Make color corrections and press adjustments during production runs
  • Inspect plates and cylinders for defects and proper image alignment
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and perform preventative maintenance
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain press equipment
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure schedules and quality standards are met
  • Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Offset printing experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of press setup, registration, and color control
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to read and interpret job specifications
  • Ability to use measurement tools and perform basic math calculations
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment with noise exposure
