About this Role

The Quality Engineer position is an important role on the Silgan Dispensing team and is a great opportunity for those looking to advance their skills. The Quality Engineer ensures Silgan Dispensing products and manufacturing processes meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards. Here's a list of duties that our Quality Engineer performs on a typical day:

  • Responsible to program the optical measuring devices used by Quality and Production departments (MicroVue /Keyenc)
  • Work with Production and Engineering teams on Customer Complaints (EBBs) to determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions. Provide complete report back to QA Manager for response back to customer. Train required personnel to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Lead of Metrology labs, ensuring equipment is available and programmed for Production and Qualification needs.
  • Assist quality efforts by working closely with Manufacturing, Central Engineering and Product Development to implement product and process improvements and validations including supporting of timelines and complete documentation of actions/results.
  • Apply DOE techniques to ensure process optimization post qualification
  • Responsible for SPC Infinity Data Collection system; analyzing data and provide support for appropriate CA's and PA's by interfacing with all responsible departments, including training requirements for QA and Production teams
  • Responsible for developing / utilizing internal or external resources to accomplish tasks
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Meet the timeline target dates for projects
  • Support requirements for our ISO QMS are compliant
  • Provide support for Silgan CT Campus Quality Improvement Program
  • Training of all required with Infinity and Optical measurement systems
  • Operational Metrology Labs at Silgan CT Campus Facilities

Qualified Candidates must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in quality, engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • Ability to learn, grow and adapt to changing business needs.
  • 3-5 years' experience in product design, process engineering or project management beneficial.
  • Hands-on experience in disciplined engineering document control systems (timelines / qualification protocol /change control etc.).
  • Strong technical writing skills, ability to summarize data, provide conclusions and recommendations based on the data.
  • Knowledge of test fixtures, gauges and the ability to conduct gage R&R's
  • Self-starting team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and Continuous Improvement efforts are essential
  • Use of SPC and DOE in a manufacturing environment required.

Preferred Candidates will have:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or a Black Belt certification a plus
  • Automated assembly, molding and metal forming knowledge a plus
  • ISO 9001 experiences a plus.
  • Knowledge and use of a Data Collection System a plus

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
