Job Summary
The Infection Preventionist IV is a key leader in implementing and evaluating infection prevention and control programs. This role involves conducting surveillance, maintaining infection data dashboards, participating in outbreak investigations, and educating staff on infection prevention practices. Responsibilities
As an Infection Preventionist IV, you will:
  • Monitor infection control trends, maintain dashboards, and generate reports to support annual program plans.
  • Participate in investigations of infection outbreaks, exposure incidents, epidemics, and pandemics.
  • Provide infection prevention expertise to staff, patients, and other stakeholders, responding to inquiries and conducting educational programs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing infection prevention policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Conduct on-site assessments of clinical spaces to ensure adherence to infection prevention standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives using data analytics and trend analysis.
  • Stay current on infection prevention regulations and accreditation standards at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Support organizational readiness for regulatory surveys and audits.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or related field AND 2 years of healthcare experience (including at least 1 year in infection prevention, patient management, or public health) OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, or related field AND 4 years of healthcare experience (including at least 3 years in infection prevention or related field) OR
  • Registered Nurse (RN) License without a bachelor's degree AND 6 years of healthcare experience (including at least 5 years in infection prevention or related field) OR
  • Minimum 7 years of directly related healthcare/professional experience.
Certification:
  • Infection Control Certification (CIC) required within 24 months of hire.
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Advanced knowledge of infection prevention, epidemiology, and regulatory standards (CDC, NHSN).
  • Strong analytical skills for health care data and outcome trends.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to influence across teams.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing performance improvement plans.
