Staff Development / Infection Control Coordinator - RN

Location: Atlanta, GA 30314

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the facility infection prevention, staff development, and control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective training program for all new and existing staff.
  • Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the in-service education program.
  • Assist licensed personnel in obtaining CEUs to keep their licenses current in accordance with state law.
  • Create methods to identify and track current staff skill sets, competencies, and training needs.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care delivery.
  • Assess and monitor patient health by collecting data and performing physical examinations.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting as necessary.
  • Interpret infection prevention and control policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Review, modify, and interpret infection prevention and control policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Report all reportable diseases when applicable.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote infection control and patient safety.
  • Develop and evaluate goals, measurable objectives, and action plans for the healthcare center’s antibiotic stewardship program.
  • Provide ongoing infection prevention and control findings, recommendations, annual reports, and policy and procedure updates to the QAPI committee.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure infection prevention and control supplies are used efficiently to avoid waste.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment options, and preventive care strategies.
  • Participate in facility surveys related to infection control and staff development.
  • Provide recommendations for equipment and supply needs for the infection prevention and control program and its activities.
  • Assist nursing services personnel in performing nursing procedures as necessary.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operations within the skilled nursing and rehab facility.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology.
