Job description

Who We're Looking For: 

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of 12–15 operators to ensure daily production and quality targets are consistently achieved. This role oversees shift activities, monitors performance, and drives continuous improvement while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The Shift Supervisor also plays a key role in enforcing safety protocols, troubleshooting issues, and supporting team development to meet operational goals. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to ensure alignment with company standards and shift objectives.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead mill production technician’s and serve as a coach in meeting Mill goals, assist with the development of the Set-up Shift Supervisors
  • Complete projects as assigned by Production Manager
  • Work with Production Manager to plan and execute mill maintenance shut downs.
  • Maintain equipment through assuring equipment basic care rounds are completed and operator maintenance is performed as required.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure employees are meeting the requirements of this program.
  • Assist employees in gathering and analyzing data used in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Champion employees to continually look for ways of improving processes; communicate employee ideas to next level managers.
  • Explain and enforce policies; Resolve work problems by involving team members in problem solving techniques.
  • Work with employees to resolves issues or complaints; communicate employee concerns with Production and Human Resources Manager.
  • Other functions that may be assigned

The work schedule for this position consists of rotating, 12-hour shifts. This schedule includes 2 weekends off per month and 2 weekends working. Example of a 28-day rotation below:

  • 5 graveyard shifts (7p-7a) - 3 days off - 3 day shifts (7a-7p) - 1 day off - 3 graveyard shifts - 3 days off - 4 day shifts - 6 days off
  • (repeat)

Need to Have:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical materials; ability to effectively present information to top management and all levels of the employee population
  • Strong troubleshooting background
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledgeable in Excel and various Microsoft Programs

Great to Have:

  • Containerboard/Paper Mill Experience
  • Experience working a rotating schedule, including graveyard shifts

Pay Transparency: The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $105,000 to $130,000 annually. New-Indy provides a variety of benefits to employees, including medical, dental and vision insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
