Industrial Operator
Posting Start Date: 9/4/26
Job Location: UNITED STATES SUGAR MANUFACTURING
SUMMARY
This is a rotating shift-work position, reporting to the Packaging Team Leader, with periodic overtime and recall requirements, including nights, weekends, and holidays, working independently or in a team, to safely and efficiently operate, monitor, and clean the Industrial Line Packaging Machine in order to minimize downtime and ensure constant operation.
FUNCTIONS
  • Abide by all Company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and comply with all Company, Local, State and Federal regulations relating to Health, Safety, Operations, etc.
  • Successfully participate in and complete all training sessions, safety classes, pre-shift meetings, and/or certifications related to the position.
  • Maintain all related safety equipment and tools of the trade.
  • Operate the forklift and man-lift, using proper rigging procedures.
  • Maintain written documentation pertaining to the job, including QA/QC checks.
  • Read and apply process and procedures according to operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Assist mechanics in maintenance and breakdowns.
  • Operate the Human Machine Interface (HMI), and automated equipment using color-coded touch screen controls.
  • Learn and implement Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), including good housekeeping.
  • Communicate with Team Leader and Packaging Mechanic to report operating deficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have positive results from Company-designated tests designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude and/or other interests, skills and characteristics.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and have a good work record and disciplinary history.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of job award.
  • Applicants must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to comprehend instructions on the job, over the radio, and in the classroom, and to ensure personal and co-worker safety on the work site.
  • New hires must pass a drug test and other pre-employment background screening, and successfully complete any required training or orientation course.
  • Must be capable of setting up machinery and adjust to packaging specifications in order to maintain production requirements.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations pertaining to the job, and be familiar with the metric system.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and an aptitude for working with and interpreting graphics related process equipment using touch screen controls.
  • Demonstrate the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Applicant must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of the work.

WORKING CONDITIONS
80% of the work environment is conducted in an enclosed and environmentally controlled environment, exposed to loud noise and dust, while wearing PPE (i.e.: hard hat, goggles, hair/beard net, and/or ear plugs). Will stand for long periods of time on a hard surface, and occasionally be required to kneel, crawl, bend, stoop, squat, and reach overhead. Will regularly push a broom and use bleach and other industrial cleaning solvents. Will regularly lift and carry weight up to 55 lbs. unassisted. 20% of the work environment is conducted in a non-environmentally controlled warehouse, regularly exposed to moving robotic machinery, and will be required to periodically operate a pallet jack or fork lift to move materials over 100 lbs., reaching forward or twisting at the waist while seated, and look behind without aid of mirrors.
