Job description

Position Summary

The Operations Team Lead is responsible for providing onsite routine and complex support for recovery and recycling services, operations, and tracing to maximize the clients return on recycling program utilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operates a variety of equipment including bailers, forklifts, and other equipment used in the location and loads recycling materials for collection and transportation.
  • Tracks equipment maintenance and supports the development of equipment and processing SOP’s, equipment inspection checklists, JSA’s and LOTO procedures.
  • Attends all safety trainings, reports, and any incidents or near misses and wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed to ensure workplace safety and compliance with regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Tracks team safety training, safety, and performance to ensure quarterly and end of year bonus eligibility can be accurately determined.
  • Creates documents reporting weights for outbound loads and material contamination.
  • Maintains go canvas material tracking program and equipment, initiates any tracking program updates, and manages productivity against material tracking data.
  • Communicates any challenges, continuous improvements, and best practices to Territory Manager to ensure programs operate efficiently.
  • Maintains and grows relationships with vendors and key stakeholders regarding program operations.
  • Collaborates with Strategic Account Services to maintain record of vendor qualifications, material stream acceptance and new opportunities.
  • Leads staffing initiatives by developing relationships with staffing resources, conducting interviews to fill open positions, and supporting open field positions to ensure minimal on-site coverage gaps.
  • Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company and its products and services.

Lead: Has acquired all equipment certifications and safety training to operate program cautiously. Demonstrates the ability to efficiently and effectively manage the scrap floor, complete basic paperwork, and performs basic material separation. Can participate and contribute to monthly business reviews and quarterly business reviews. Shows an understanding of use of the Strategic Account service as applicable and Casella’s Core Values and basic operating expertise.

Team Lead: Has acquired all necessary equipment certifications and safety training to operate program cautiously. Demonstrates project management skills and responsibilities by managing all aspects of site program and trains others of all duties. Collaborates with the Industrial Site Operations Supervisor and the Strategic Account Managers to understand the needs of customer accounts and ensure appropriate procedures are followed for successful and efficient operations at the industrial location. Shows willingness to fill any position as needed on site.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment, and experience working with recycling processing equipment such as forklifts, balers, tippers, and shredders. An ability and willingness to work under many different weather conditions along with an OSHA 10 or 30 card are required.

Outstanding relationship management skills, excellent listening, time management, and problem-solving skills are necessary. Great verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service skills, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and other platforms, and an ability to teach and train others are essential. The physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. is necessary.
