Job Description

The Manager of Industrial Engineering leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of industrial engineering systems and production processes that support manufacturing and prefabrication operations. This role applies Lean Six Sigma principles, data-driven methodologies, and industrial engineering best practices to optimize workflows, improve productivity, enhance quality, and reduce waste across manufacturing and production environments.

The Manager partners closely with production, operations, engineering, product development, supply chain, and quality teams to develop scalable processes, implement standardized work, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position also leads a team of industrial engineers, fostering technical excellence, operational consistency, and a culture of innovation.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Leads, coaches, and develops industrial engineering staff through performance management, mentoring, and professional development.

  • Manages team workload, resource planning, and project assignments to support production, operational, and strategic business objectives.

  • Provides technical leadership for industrial engineering initiatives and promotes the consistent application of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Supports succession planning, capability development, and knowledge sharing across the industrial engineering team.

  • Fosters a culture of safety, operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of production systems, manufacturing processes, and industrial engineering initiatives.

  • Design and optimize production workflows, facility layouts, workstations, material handling systems, and standardized work to improve throughput, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, value stream mapping, time studies, work measurement, and other industrial engineering methodologies to eliminate waste and improve performance.

  • Collaborate with production, operations, engineering, product development, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to implement process improvements and operational best practices.

  • Establish and maintain production standards, labor standards, process documentation, and operational metrics that support consistent manufacturing performance.

  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, evaluate operational effectiveness, and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and process optimization initiatives to improve quality, productivity, and manufacturing reliability.

  • Guide quality control, inspection, and compliance activities by ensuring production processes align with organizational standards and customer requirements.

  • Support implementation of new products, manufacturing technologies, automation, and production capabilities to improve scalability and operational performance.

  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies, industrial engineering tools, and manufacturing best practices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.

  • 8-12 years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, production systems, or a related field required.

  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams, continuous improvement initiatives, or technical programs required.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, standardized work, work measurement, facility layout, and production systems.

  • Demonstrated experience optimizing manufacturing operations, improving production performance, and implementing process improvement initiatives.

  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrialized construction, prefabrication, or related production environments preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) licensure beneficial.
