For over a century, Globe Machine Manufacturing Company has been at the forefront of delivering custom-engineered factory solutions for manufacturers in the building products, pulp & paper, and advanced composites industries. Our solutions combine decades of proven mechanical performance with cutting-edge automation, controls, and robotics, empowering our customers to achieve next-level operational efficiency.

As an Industrial Engineer at Globe, you will play a vital role in translating customer needs into tailored manufacturing solutions. You will partner closely with our Sales Team and directly contribute to Globe's success by developing the technical and commercial proposals that help close new business. This role blends engineering, technical sales, and creative problem-solving - making it ideal for someone with both strong mechanical aptitude and the communication skills to engage with customers and internal teams alike.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpret customer needs - analyze technical requirements provided by customers and sales prospects to understand process goals, equipment needs, and system specifications.
  • Develop customized proposals - create compelling sales packages that include technical and commercial proposals, sales drawings in 2D and 3D, high-quality 3D renderings and simulations, process flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and bottleneck/capacity studies.
  • Engineering & cost analysis - use historical data, Excel cost models, and collaboration with internal teams to estimate costs for equipment, automation systems, controls, and robotics.
  • Technical documentation - draft process descriptions, technical specifications, and project requirements to clearly define proposed solutions for internal teams and customers.
  • Internal & external communication - present technical solutions confidently to both internal leadership and external customers, supporting the Sales team during virtual and in-person meetings.
  • Cross-department collaboration - work closely with Globe's engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with Globe's capabilities.

You thrive in roles that combine engineering know-how with customer-facing communication. You enjoy solving technical puzzles, translating complex requirements into clear proposals, and working both independently and collaboratively. You're excited to develop expertise in Globe's equipment portfolio and become a go-to resource for tailored manufacturing solutions.

Skills and experience include:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings and equipment specifications strongly preferred.
  • Experience or proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Factory Design Utilities (Solidworks experience is also relevant), Excel for process modeling and cost estimation, and Word for creating clear technical documentation.
  • Ability to conduct capacity studies, bottleneck analyses, and process flow development preferred.
  • Comfortable developing both technical drawings and visually impactful sales renderings strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to present technical content clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while staying aligned with sales, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Analytical mindset with a knack for researching technical solutions and asking the right questions.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field (Associate's or Bachelor's).
  • Experience in industries like building products manufacturing (wood-based, engineered wood, cementitious), pulp & paper, and advanced composites (aerospace, automotive, infrastructure).
  • Knowledge of industrial automation, PLC controls, and Fanuc robotics is a plus.
  • Prior experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or similar roles is highly desired.

This role offers a clear path for advancement into positions such as Senior Industrial Engineer, Systems Engineer, Project Manager, and Technical Sales Manager.

At Globe, you'll be part of a company with a rich legacy of innovation and a collaborative team culture where engineering excellence drives everything we do. You'll have the chance to work on cutting-edge factory solutions, travel to customer sites, participate in industry trade shows, and build deep expertise across a wide range of industrial processes.

Travel requirements include occasional domestic and international travel to customer sites and industry trade shows.
