Industrial Automation & Field Service Specialist

Charlotte, NC | Hybrid / Field-Based | North American Travel

Our client is looking for an Industrial Automation & Field Service Specialist to support customers, commission equipment, troubleshoot industrial machinery, and develop expertise in PLCs, HMIs, CNC controls, and automated material handling.

If you have a background in field service, industrial maintenance, CNC machinery, or manufacturing equipment and want to build your automation skills, this role provides hands-on experience and a defined career path.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Install, commission, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot industrial bandsaws and automated equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and machine-control issues
  • Read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, manuals, and machine documentation
  • Provide on-site technical support and communicate solutions to customers
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, sensors, VFDs, servo systems, and machine controls
  • Support automated conveyors, material-feeding, measuring, and handling systems
  • Assist with machine demonstrations, customer trials, and application testing
  • Support new equipment installations throughout North America
  • Verify machine operation and safety functions during commissioning
  • Train customers on machine operation, maintenance, basic programming, and troubleshooting
  • Document service activities, installations, troubleshooting, and corrective actions
  • Work with Sales, Engineering, Service, and factory teams to resolve technical issues

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, manufacturing equipment, CNC machinery, or a related technical field
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance experience
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Working knowledge of electrical wiring, pneumatics, and industrial equipment
  • Experience with CNC or automated production equipment
  • Basic PLC knowledge and interest in developing advanced PLC/HMI skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently at customer facilities
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Willingness to travel 30โ€“50% throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
