Part-time Garden Shop Assistant - Anita's Garden Shop

The Role As a Garden Shop Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our top floral designers. You will play a key part in the ongoing success of the best garden shop in Jacksonville. Your work will directly impact people receiving beautiful arrangements that make them very happy.
The Shop Anita's Garden Shop is a family-owned business that has been delighting Jacksonville customers for over 35 years. We take pride in treating our team like family because we can, and we believe that is the only way to treat employees. We are located in Avondale at 3637 Saint Johns Ave and are a sister shop to Blend Indoor Outdoor, a boutique home décor shop in the historic Shops of Avondale. The biggest benefit we offer is schedule flexibility and an enjoyable work environment!
A Day in the Life A day as a Garden Shop Assistant starts with setting up the store and making sure our customers have a true garden shop experience every time. You'll water and check over plants inside and out, keeping them happy and looking their best. Throughout the day you'll support our designers — making sure they have everything they need to create our beautiful arrangements — while also taking care of our wonderful repeat customers by taking orders and checking them out. You'll merchandise new products, tidy workstations, restock and organize supplies, and keep the shop running smoothly. Every day is different and full of opportunities and challenges where you'll make it happen on the fly, doing whatever it takes to keep our customers happy.
Duties:
Sales:
  • Greet customers and help them select items to purchase.
  • Complete sales transactions according to process.
  • Answer phones, take orders, and direct calls as needed.
  • Prepare and stage completed orders for delivery or pickup, verifying accuracy.

Floral Support:
  • Support the designers, making sure they have everything they need to create our beautiful arrangements.
  • Prioritize and maintain order flow according to delivery and pickup schedules.
  • Coordinate with designers and delivery drivers to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Support holiday production procedures during high-volume periods including Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Shop Maintenance:
  • Water and check over all plants inside and out.
  • Tidy and organize all workstations, tables, and the design area.
  • Restock floral supplies, containers, ribbons, and merchandise as needed.
  • Sweep, clean up, and straighten inside the store, greenhouse, and outside areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cash wrap, greenhouse and work area.

Inventory:
  • Unpack, tag, and prep new inventory upon delivery
  • Organize and stock new merchandise on the sales floor
  • Break down boxes and shipping materials for recycling and trash

What We're Looking For:
  • Interest in helping a small business succeed.
  • A willingness to work hard without supervision.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift buckets, boxes, and floral supplies.
  • Floral shop or design experience preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays; additional availability during seasonal holidays required.

The Details Hours will be flexible at around 20–30 per week. We're hiring for shifts Monday through Saturday (we are closed Sundays). Pay starts at $16/hour.
