Dryden Native Friendship Centre

Indigenous Women's Navigator 1

The Dryden Native Friendship Centre (DNFC) is currently seeking applications for the position of Indigenous Women's Navigator 1. The Indigenous Women's Navigator will play a key role in supporting participants of the Dryden Urban Indigenous Homeward Bound (DUIHB) project by providing direct transitional services and holistic supports. This position is dedicated to empowering Indigenous women as they work toward achieving their personal, educational, and career goals.


POSITION DETAILS:


  • Schedule: 8:30am to 4:30 pm Monday - Friday - 35 hours per week - Some flexibility to meet program needs
  • Status:
    Regular Full-Time
  • Compensation:
    $51,125 per annum
  • Benefits:

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:


  • Prepare and oversee facilitation of intake and referral processes
  • Develop and maintain client files inclusive of all required documents in addition to maintaining individual case notes
  • Act as a resource person or advocate for clients in obtaining internal and external services
  • Develop and execute outreach plans to promote the program and recruit new clients
  • Provide recommendations for improvement, development, and/or expansion of the program to ensure the clients needs are addressed
  • Support reintegration of clients to school, work, and social activities
  • Work collaboratively to coordinate and co-facilitate the delivery of activities and supports needed, relevant to but not exclusive to culture, childcare, skills enhancement, education, and housing support
  • Assist in all aspects of the project as directed
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • College Diploma or University Degree in social services or a related field. Lived experience may be considered equivalent
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention training is an asset
  • 1 year experience front-line support work experience or client facing role in a community setting
  • Current knowledge in best practices in trauma informed mental health (ex. Crisis de-escalation, risk assessment, anti-racism, gender-based violence, suicide prevention, etc.)
  • Expert organizational and time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • High-level experience planning and organizing interest-based learning
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, time management and reporting skills
  • Excellent communications skills - written, oral, and listening
  • Excellent public speaker/ presentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Suites
  • Required:
    • Valid First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
    • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
    • Valid G Driver's License
  • Assets:
    • Knowledge of Indigenous culture
    • Indigenous language skills


WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Shared office environment
  • Occasional offsite activities, travel and overnight stays may be required
