Job description

This position is responsible for supporting the Engineering/Maintenance Manager by effectively leading and coordinating the work of Maintenance Technicians engaged in equipment repairs, fabricating, preventive maintenance plans and maintenance of the facility while following all safety, food and health standards.

Responsibilities:
* Communicates closely with Maintenance Mechanics and other team members on the status of work progress. Maintains good relations with other business managers. Monitors key performance indicators such as timeliness in responding to issues, material costs, parts, trends, etc.
* Exercises good leadership and technical judgement in planning and organizing routine and urgent tasks. Demonstrates continuous improvement methods to drive results.
* Oversee's and performs maintenance duties to troubleshoot and repair defective equipment in timely manner.
* Responds to assigned work orders and input to Maintenance Management System. Perform predictive and preventive maintenance duties. Responds to and generates work requests to repair defective equipment.
* In conjunction with the Manager and in their absence, will create and modify team members work schedules and may grant them time off, in coordination with the manager.
* Actively works to mentor, coach and resolve problems with team members. Sets expectations and targets. Gives constructive feedback to help build skills, ability, relations, confidence.
* Required to work safely, using a variety of skills and leads others by example.
* Assist in the training, development and education of other team members to produce a multifunctional maintenance department.

Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities
* Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP's
* Accurately completes required Food Safety & Quality Records
* Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Q.A. Manager and Department Manager
* Responsible for reporting any food safety concerns or tampering with product
* Attends all Food Safety/Quality training sessions



Qualifications:
* Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree Minimum of two years of experience in food manufacturing environment or equivalent technical training
* Minimum two years in leadership or supervisory role Knowledge of Timekeeping systems and Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* PLC programming and knowledge of ladder logic, Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs
* Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices (5 S, Six Sigma, Kaizen), ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations Ability write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals
* Maintenance of a variety of machines, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, welding, basic carpentry, electrical and wastewater treatment facility experience. Related trades certifications is helpful.
* Experience working in a chilled food manufacturing environment preferred.
* Demonstrate knowledge with Cal-OSHA, HazMat, MSDS, ADA, NFPA, OSHA and other regulations.
* Ability to read blueprints and/or schematics.
* Ability to work well under pressure, while remaining calm and making rational decisions
* Communicates effectively to all levels including co-workers, production dept. employees, vendors and other agency representatives.
* Able to resolve related problems, identify trends, problem areas and implement corrective actions.
* Ability to work routine and monotonous processes, such as required repetitive lifting, reaching, and pushing. Able to routinely stand, walk, stoop and bend to accomplish the work. Must be able to respond to facility matters after hours when needed.
* Bilingual Spanish is a Plus.

Education and/or Experience

Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree or 2-3 years of experience in food manufacturing environment and equivalent technical training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment:
Work is normally performed in a warehouse/production environment As part of the job requirements, employees may be exposed to work in a production setting and cold temperature (-20 degrees) at times.
