Job description

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) PRN

Job Summary

Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC) is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician EMT to respond to emergencies and provide treatment to employees who have been injured or become ill due to work-related or personal causes. This position will work with worker's compensation claims and investigations. The EMT will also collaborate closely with other departments to ensure adherence to medical and safety protocols.

The schedule for this PRN position would require picking up at least 4 days a month and at least 1 Saturday a month. This position does not have set hours and would be available to work for staff on vacation/PTO or sick days.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventative and emergency medical care to injured or ill people
  • Ensure personal well-being
  • Manage worker's compensation claims
  • Understand basic medical / legal principles
  • Prepare documentation and reports, and maintains records
  • Complete probable cause or post-accident assessment of employee
  • Ensure OSHA, Workers Compensation and other medically necessary compliance
  • Function within the scope of medical care as defined protocol and state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
  • Maintain confidential information
  • Assist with incident investigations and required documentation
  • Perform other duties as needed or required
  • Lead emergency medical team when called to the production floor or other facility areas
  • Perform other duties as needed or required

Qualifications

  • Current and active Indiana EMT Certification
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience as a Certified EMT.
  • Experience with worker's compensation cases, in an industrial environment preferred
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to provide support while working occasional overtime, including weekends
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have good computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments
  • Uphold company policies and ethical standards
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels
  • Commitment to follow safety policies and practices
