Our team excels in disruptive thinking and believes in rolling up our sleeves to get things done. If you're looking to work flexibly and with purpose, join a team that delivers measurable change for millions.

About India Safe Water

India's Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has connected more than 150 million rural households to tap water; a historic achievement in water access. Most rural piped systems deliver water that is untreated, and chlorination remains the missing step between coverage and safety. That's where Evidence Action's India Safe Water (ISW) program comes in. Working alongside government partners, our program installs in-line chlorination (ILC) devices at village water sources; a cost-effective, proven technology that automatically treats water as it flows through the system.

Reporting to the Manager of ISW,  you will support the implementation of our programming in India. You will be accountable for the quality and timeliness of analytical, coordination, and donor-facing deliverables that inform program decisions. You will coordinate closely with our India-based team and provide surge support as needs arise, including through in-person collaboration in the Delhi office or state-level field offices. This role calls for analytical and project management skills, along with the ability to work on a dynamic, matrixed, and cross-cultural team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analytical Support (50%)
    • Conduct analyses across the India context that estimate unmet need for water treatment, ILC-addressable market and programmatic reach, and develop scenario planning analyses that can inform future program planning, optimization and expansion.
    • Develop data visualizations to better communicate the ambition, progress and impact of the ISW program, with the ability to tailor visualizations to different audiences.
    • Support development and tracking of cost-effectiveness measures that capture the impact of ISW's policy-level engagement at the central and state level, as well as of ISW's various technical assistance models (e.g., deep dive TA, light-touch TA etc.).
  • Project Management and Coordination (30%)
    • Support ISW team to track progress on programmatic theories of change and develop process for flagging when expected trajectories are at risk of being off track.
    • Collaborate with cross-cutting teams (technical, MLE, cost-effectiveness, and program finance) to further ISW's programmatic objectives
    • Develop strategic program and communications materials that elevate ISW's theory of change, key successes, broader learnings for the WASH field, etc.
  • Surge Support for India-Based Safe Water Team (20%)
    • Support the India-based water team as emerging needs arise, including through extended in-person collaboration either in the Delhi office or relevant state-level field offices. This could include:
    • Follow up directly with relevant National team members to operationalize decisions and alignment reached between Global and National teams, ensuring agreed actions move forward on schedule.
    • Validate data and assumptions underlying ISW program analyses, working closely with the National team members closest to the data source, and flag discrepancies for review.

Requirements

  • You have 3-5 years of professional experience in program and project support in an international environment, working in development, public health, MLE, or as a management consultant.
  • You bring strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with data analysis, cost-effectiveness or cost-benefit analysis, and building dashboards or data visualizations to communicate findings.
  • You are proficient in analytical and data visualization tools (such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau).
  • You have experience supporting donor engagement or grant-related work; including drafting narratives, reports, or communications materials for external audiences.
  • You can generate high-quality content for a range of cross-cultural technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You have the ability to manage complex and interdependent workplans and projects, prioritize, and adapt plans.

Position Location

The preferred base for this role is in our offices in Washington, DC. Additionally, this role will likely require up to 20% international travel to India to support our country teams.
