PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Fleet Dispatcher is responsible for the strategic coordination and optimization of the company's fleet operations to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service delivery. This role involves critical thinking, independent decision-making, and analysis of logistical variables that impact the company's operational performance. You will be responsible for scheduling, routing, and overseeing the day-to-day activities of our drivers. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and oversee daily, weekly, and long-term delivery schedules, balancing cost efficiency with client service levels.
  • Analyze route performance data to make informed decisions and recommend operational improvements.
  • Exercise independent judgment to resolve unexpected issues such as service delays, breakdowns, or changes in customer needs.
  • Serve as a liaison with key accounts to plan and adjust logistics according to client requirements and business goals.
  • Monitor fleet tracking systems and proactively reroute vehicles in response to traffic, weather, or operational constraints.
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained in good working conditions and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and address any service-related concerns or issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records on delivery metrics, incident reports, route efficiency, and fuel usage.
  • Handle emergency situations and make quick decisions to resolve any operational challenges.
  • Perform on-the-road duties as needed, including operating a truck and assisting with deliveries or pickups.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all traffic laws and company policies.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is desirable.
  • Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role.
  • Clean and valid driver's license. CDL license is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in using dispatcher software and GPS systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress effectively.
  • Available to work overnight, second shift and on-call hours as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Availability for rotating shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential.
  • Willingness to operate a truck and assist with deliveries or pickups when required.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that undergoes frequent changes.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and twist for up to 10 hours.
  • Able to push, pull and lift 50+ lbs. unassisted.
