Position Summary:
The Structural Engineer plans, designs, and oversees multiple structural engineering projects. The ideal candidate will possess an active and current understanding of building codes, modern engineering and construction practices, and analysis software. By analyzing test/site reports, maps, drawings and specifications, the Structural Engineer will evaluate project feasibility and conduct detailed analyses of available data. This role involves applying advanced engineering knowledge and mathematical techniques to the systems and products manufactured by Prospiant. Projects may include, but are not limited to, aluminum and steel greenhouse and carwash structures, accessory and equipment supports, anchor design and foundation and slab design.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participants in kick-off meetings and documents the requirements specific to each project.
  • Generate 2D/3D FEA analysis models using tools like RISA/STAAD Pro and Multiframe.
  • Conducts structural analysis based on loads from ASCE-7 loads and per check code compliance per IBC.
  • Prepares calculations package and reviews them along with the drawings to ensure the details in the calculation package match the components in the drawings.
  • Carryout anchor design using tools like HILTI Profis.
  • Make site visits, as needed, to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
  • Design and analyze, size, calculate and design structural systems for aluminum and steel framed greenhouses, related buildings, accessory structures, equipment supports, foundations and slabs.
  • Issue permit drawing sets and overseeing code review with specific AHJs (authority having jurisdiction)
  • Perform load calculations, stress tests, and material evaluations to ensure structural integrity
  • Collaborate with architects, building officials, contractors and other engineers to develop cost-effective and innovative design solutions.
  • Analyze existing structures for potential improvements or retrofits.
  • Advise and engineer to new design methods or product improvement initiatives.
  • Stay updated on local building codes, industry standards, and advancements in structural engineering technology.
  • Partner with designers to create structural drawings and specifications needed for building permits.
  • Communicate and coordinate with architectural, structural and civil consultants on design plans.
  • Review and approve structural drawings for regulatory submissions.
  • Work with business development and design teams to establish optimal and cost-effective solutions, identifying potential value engineering opportunities.
  • Works on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions. Results are key to successful completion of major projects.
  • Responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and managing multiple projects on a continuous basis to meet release deadlines, and ensuring successful project execution.
  • Responsible for engineering budget and engineering timeline estimates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 2+ Years of experience in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • EIT Required, PE license is a plus
  • Technical Skills: Multi-Frame, STAAD Pro, RISA, Excel, AutoCAD, Revit & Inventor experience is a bonus, Microsoft Suite of Applications
  • Travel up to 10% possible
