POSITION SUMMARY:
Engage high school students by effectively using research-based best practices in biology sciences. Plan lessons, select materials; prepare assignments, tests, and discussion topics. Assist students with understanding and appreciating advanced science, lead discussions, encourage, and provide feedback. Individuals must be familiar with the Gradual Release of Responsibility Instructional Model and be able to plan lessons using the Backward By Design format. Work as a team member in professional learning communities, utilize data-driven instruction, and create class curriculum based on state standards. The focus of this position is student growth, proficiency, and preparing students for the future. Encourage parent/guardian involvement in student learning through open houses, volunteering, parent/teacher conferences, etc. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively participate in all staff meetings, PLCs, and other required events. Apply and implement knowledge, skills, and new understandings to improve instructional programming. Advocate for and lead initiatives that will enhance student success in and out of school. Use the professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Possible supervision of support personnel.
Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, participating in interviews, providing training/development, assigning and directing work, providing performance feedback, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:ย
Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
Create and implement effective and efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures, instructional groups, transition materials, and supplies).
Accurately projects the need for budget planning.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.
Review processes for improvement opportunities and make changes as needed to ensure the quality of instruction.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:ย
Bachelor's degree in Science educationย (required).
Career Technical Education certification (preferred).
Master's degree in Science (preferred).
Ability to teach all levels of Biology (AP, Honors, and traditional).
English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Colorado Driver's License.
Valid Colorado Teaching License with a Secondary Science endorsement.

SALARY:ย
Salary placement ranges from $53,464 to $103,027 and is determined based on education, years of experience, and theย Negotiated Agreement. The most currentย Licensed Salary Scheduleย is posted on theย Englewood Schools Career webpage. Englewood Schools accepts up to 19 years of verified experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Per the negotiated agreement, all licensed staff who start after the student's first day are temporary.
