Position:  Engineer I – Power Generation / Industrial Systems
Location: 900 Old Augusta Central Rd, Rincon GA, 31326

Duration: 6 Months+

Client:      Southern Company Services.


Position Overview

The Engineer I role is an entry-level engineering position responsible for applying engineering principles, design criteria, and software tools to support the design and construction of power-related systems.

This role supports estimating, design development, construction documentation, and contractor oversight while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design Support

  • Apply engineering processes and design criteria to develop power-related system designs.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and developing design options.
  • Prepare construction specifications and transmit construction packages.
  • Estimate project materials and support procurement planning.

Contractor Oversight & QA

  • Provide guidance and oversight to approved contractors.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of contractor-developed designs and cost estimates.
  • Review construction packages for accuracy and compliance.

Operational & Field Support

  • Support construction and maintenance teams in daily operations.
  • Conduct field walkdowns and assist with drawing updates and markups.
  • Ensure design compliance with company and industry standards.

Standards & Process Understanding

  • Develop knowledge of:
    • Planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance processes
    • Internal departmental functions
    • Design practices and work processes
    • Industry and company design standards
  • Support development of design standards and system criteria.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a safety-first work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable standards and specifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (accredited program).
  • 0–5 years of related engineering experience.
  • Introductory knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions with supervisory guidance.
  • Familiarity with engineering software applications.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with:
    • Plant staff
    • Engineering teams
    • Contractors and vendors

Preferred Experience

  • Power Generation or Heavy Industrial experience.
  • Experience performing field walkdowns.
  • Experience marking up mechanical or electrical drawings.
  • CAD experience (AutoCAD or similar design tools).
