Job Description:
Shop Welder
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Shop Welder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the welding, fabrication, and assembly of components, structures, and fixed assets within our shop environment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated welder who takes pride in craftsmanship and enjoys contributing to a collaborative, production-focused team.
Key Responsibilities:
Shop Fabrication
  • Weld, fabricate, and assemble parts, frames, brackets, and components according to drawings, specifications, and established procedures.
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and project requirements.

Material Preparation
  • Cut, grind, fit, and prepare materials for welding and fabrication.
  • Verify material dimensions and readiness before fabrication begins.

Layout & Fit-Up
  • Measure, layout, mark, and fit components accurately.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to ensure proper assembly.

Quality Control
  • Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for accuracy and quality.
  • Identify and correct defects when necessary.

Shop Organization
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with inventory organization and restocking of shop materials as needed.

Safety Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and equipment operating guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and contribute to a strong safety culture.

Required
  • 3-5 years of shop welding and fabrication experience.
  • Proficiency in:
    • MIG (GMAW)
    • TIG (GTAW)
    • Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
    • Air Arc Gouging
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime during peak workload periods.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred
  • Current welding certifications.
  • Experience working with a variety of metals and fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with shop equipment, machinery, and material handling practices.
