Independent Field Adjuster

Job Summary

As our Adjuster, you’ll choose to telework or on-site in the field locally or out of town/state, at various residential sites. You will evaluate a loss by assessing damage, documenting conditions and ASOR, determine key factors in accordance with policy terms, and write up the build‐back Xactimate estimate.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‐solving, producing organized accurate estimates, and is knowledgably in insurance coverage and construction restoration.

Key Responsibilities

Loss Assessment

  • Conduct inspections of residential property damage
  • Compile a detailed photos report, sketch of measurements, and accompanying notes
  • Identify any necessary tests potentially needed to verify/accompany findings

Damage Estimation

  • Write detailed Xactimate estimates (build‐back scope)
  • Gather material samples as required for additional testing, when needed
  • Apply construction expertise and critical thinking to produce precise, well‐supported ASOR.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Compile clear, well organized, comprehensive reports
  • Submit completed reports in a timely manner

Customer Service & Communication

  • Represent the company professionally and respectfully
  • Be punctual for scheduled appointments
  • Maintain good communication with department head.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years property field adjusting experience.
  • Xactimate Level 2 proficiency, minimum
  • Hands‐on, in field, experience writing Xactimate estimates
  • Comfortable climbing roofs, when necessary
  • Strong understanding of insurance policies, coverages, and claim processes
  • Experience in wind, fire, smoke, flood, and snow/ice, and water losses required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Have reliable transportation, computer, mobile device, digital camera, ladder, and other miscellaneous items necessary to perform adjuster responsibilities.
  • Must have Xactimate and Microsoft 365 subscriptions.

Advanced Candidate Skills (Preferred)

  • Mitigation remediation knowledge (including smoke)
  • Construction background (Higher pay/bonus for demonstrated ability to understand building plans and relate them into Xactimate scope items in the Build-back estimate).
  • Multi-state claims experience in field
  • Multi-carrier Certifications
  • CAT experience
  • Earthquake claim experience
  • Drone operation skills
  • Experience using 3D scans / virtual property software
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‐solving ability

Work Range & Compensation

  • Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099).
  • Pay Structure: Compensation is per‐diem and job‐based, determined by experience, skill level, and assignment complexity.
  • Schedule & Availability: Part‐time with the potential to transition into full‐time based on performance and operational needs.
