Job Overview

Valence Vector Labs LLC is an engineering and consulting company that specializes in hardware penetration and vulnerability analysis. We relentlessly attack security-hardened, hardware targets to extract data from vehicles, unmanned aerial systems, computers, mobile phones, and other data storage systems.

 

We are seeking a skilled Software Reverse Engineer to join our team and provide support to a United States Government customer. The work location can be in Jefferson, MD or Aberdeen, MD. As a Software Reverse Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting software exploitation activities, including reverse engineering of unmanned systems, development support, and malware analysis efforts. You will play a crucial role in supporting priority technical exploitation requirements and software reverse engineering.

 

Essential Functions

1.     Develop Target Revision Control & Archiving: Establish a systematic tracking, numbering, and delta-mapping framework to document variations across multiple hardware revisions and software versions within the fielded device family.

2.     Extract Legacy Firmware for Archival: Retrieve and archive the existing compiled firmware binaries directly from physical microcontrollers and memory chips to ensure software configuration control, utilizing physical extraction methods.

3.     Map Existing Software Behavior: Complete operational black-box analysis of the undocumented host-side software application to map its existing features, state machines, and operational parameters, capturing these findings in a comprehensive Software User & Operator Guide to sustain operator readiness.

4.     Isolate equipment and system faults and errors identified hardware components or operating system and software that may be the source of potential problem sets.

5.     Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations

6.     Perform other related duties.

Physical Demands

This is a sedentary role which may sit or use a computer for long periods of time. Finger dexterity needed for keyboarding. Extended periods of time reading/viewing computer screens and electronic equipment.

Required Education and Experience

1.     Active Secret with eligibility to obtain Top-Secret SCI Clearance

2.     5+ years of relevant experience

3.     AA or 2yr Tech School and 5 years’ experience or HS/GED with 15 years’ experience

4.     Software Engineering degree preferred.
